Mob Idea: The Shapeshifter

Looks for all intents and purposes another member of the team dressed in camos or the police riot gear blue jump suit and then the annoying little ba$tard trys to kill one of you. Its identity is given away by the fact it does not have a player name above its head. Commando should be able to spot sooner (like the stalkers).

Would make a friendly fire server interesting. It can tend to kick off if someone shoots someone in the back.

Would somewhat be annoying when sharpshooters start "spy checking" on friendly fire servers :/.

I like the idea, I just feel people would use it as an excuse to grief.

in order for this to work, the spy would have to think, act and move like a player. currently the npc's are only smart enough to move towards the nearest player and attack.

i would make it so that when you look at the player name it would show YOUR name to make it cheap and easy, if BOB is looking at it it would say BOB and the real BOB is like "its trying to be me :(" then shoots it.

also give it a bbgun so that it shoots like a bot would, but would do little damage or give it a slow fire rate

I agree.. In FF servers, it's very easy to say that you thought it was the shapeshifter but u really meant to kill a team mate... Plus some naabs easily shoots every "player"-look-alike figures coming towards em, even the ones with syringe coming to heal ya but they might look like shapshifter when they run towards u looking like a threat

You cant not implement things just because there is a minority of twats out there. This game should be Friendly Fire in my view. If all servers were FF and there was a decent kick mechanism like RO it would be perfect. The tkers would be diluted across all servers and when they do crawl out of their holes to try their tricks they get they get the auto bullet from the server.

hear hear. how about reverse dmg when you hit a teammate. that way you're still inclined to not hit them and no more tk'ers.

This is the first truly UNIQUE and yet still PRACTICAL enemy idea I've heard on these forums, period. Nice!

With the no-name thing and the Commandos being able to spot it, it'd be balanced enough, provided they don't have any excessive abilities (Grabbing, huge damage, poison, ect).

unique? yes. practical? no.

it would be easier to spot then a clot. unless maybe if you're sniping. and even if you were far away and couldn't tell if there was a name above the head or not, all you have to do is see if it's walking on a bot path (walking in the same line as all the other specimens. the ai can't stray away from this path as it tells them where they can walk) and it will be obvious that it's a shapeshifter.

In order for a shapeshifter to blend in, it'd have to act like a player. meaning, not just running at you all the time. currently this is not possible.
also, this would cause a LOT of shooting at medics to do shapeshifter checks. that would get really annoying. especially on FF servers.

There are too many things that make this impractical. Maybe it'd work for another game, but not for this one.

Dude u have some serious obsession with FF lol :)
I haven't seen a single post (ok couple..) from you not saying something about FF. That's just ur opinion so pls don't stuff it all over this forum. I do like FF more too, but there are only a few servers with FF, so it explains that the majority wants to play without FF.
