I'm wanting to have a go at a map based in Minsk, but resources like maps seem fairly hard to come by.

Anyone got anything? I'm particularly looking for railyway stuff (like a major station) and maybe a square as well?

I've managed to find some battle information (who was fighting), but visual stuff seems hard to come by.

I'm thinking an infantry map fought over the square and railyway station, in a gritty half destroyed city.

Lonyo, you should try asking some of the devs, they might have some info avaible.
Also I can do a quick search through the Russian internet sites, maybe find some info for you.
By the way, are you planning on making a 1941 or a 1944 version of the map?

Well, found some railway station website for you. Its pretty crappy and the number of pictures is very much limited. Nothing from the war itself.

Another one is an areal shot of Minsk, apparently in 1941. Most of the buildings are severely damaged and can make an interesting close quarters experience.

also these things, not sure if you can call them photographs or anything...

this website also has several small pictures of some famous landmarks during the war. Unfortunately they are tiny :/

I was thinking 41, with Russians surrounded by the evil Germans ;)

Alright, I found what is perhaps the most informative website of them all.
http://www.minskoldnew.com/Plan/Plan.htm
On the left hand side, there are a bunch of links to galleries of different streets. Not too many photographs, but some do contain examples of general architecture, and you will find occasional pictures from WW1.
This one here is from 1941, Freedom Square

This website also has some interesting photos, not alot of combat shots, no dates, though.

Here is a pair of 1944 shots, after the Red Army took Minsk back.

One often missed resource that I like to hit up on occasion when researching locations are public photo sharing sites, like Flickr.

Another one would be public blog/journaling sites (like LiveJournal)..

Those sites house photos from all over the world, and not just tourists, but often you'll find alot of residences of those areas sharing photos... and while they don't generally anything of 'military' value, they are great resources for layout, architecture, and feel.. basically all the things that really make your map look good :]

For Minsk, check out these goodies:

Now.. all of that said... using image sources like this does have it's downfall.. often you'll have to go back and do alittle research for when buildings/areas were built.. some of what's there now wasn't there 65 years ago..
