Following from my previous poll and suggestions by 'Freezy' I am opening up a new poll for discussion in order to ascertain whether win7 64bit has problems with the game and certain hardware configs:

It would be great if everyone involved in the discussion on the previous poll carried it forward to here.

Thanks Danny.

I have come to believe this comes down to a driver issue let me explain

I have an ATi 6870 and I always update the drivers when ever possible. The current released official drivers for ATi cards (well I guess all of you young uns call it the AMD GPU now) is Catalyst 11.9. Through a site I know (http://www.guru3d.com) I often get hold of preview and beta drivers and install them.

I am currently using 11.10 preview 1, now the site released AMD 11.10 preview 3 (I did not bother with preview 2 because the optimizations were for BF3 and Rage, neither of which I own or intend to purchase) and my game is running very smooth (apart from the normal bugs still within RO:HoS which affect most people) I have everything set to Ultra except for FX quality, set to high, foliage, set to high, and FXAA set to medium, bloom and frame rate smoothing set to OFF, post processing set to enhanced. On these settings I get from 50 - 70 FPS so the game is very smooth for me.

Anyway back on track, in the release notes from AMD for 11.10 preview 3 there was this line"Reduces stuttering seen on Dual CPU and Tri CPU core systems" now having a dual core e8400 this sounded like mana from heaven and so I installed it. It completely wreaked RO, I went from 50 - 70 FPS, down to 15 - 30 FPS, there was lots and lots of micro stuttering too (CPU bottle necking) and the sound went completely awful, lots of crackling broken sound, in fact I instantly had all the issues so many people have reported with RO:HoS. Fortunately I was able to roll back and everything is back to normal.

Now it seems to me if installing these drivers and I was getting these issues, that perhaps it is the drivers people have causing the issues. I know people will come back with I have this or that game and they run great so it must be the game, that would be my stock answer too, but after the above described incident, I am thinking it is driver issues, now in order to sort this out we need to know what equipment people are using and what drivers they are running to see if there is a common cause of conflict between some hardware configurations and certain drivers

i had the opposite experience with 11.10 preview 3.
Before is i used 11.10 preview 2 and i had 15-30 fps
(running a ATI 6950)
and after 11.10 preview 3 i get 50-60 fps.
But this also made me think it was not win 7 that was the problem but the drivers

I'm having severe problems with mouse (and keyboard lag). Just bought the game on Friday and downloaded a large update (I think about 4Gb worth). I have a wireless USB mouse and a wireless USB keyboard. The keyboard came with a wireless mouse but it is not the mouse I am using (and thus I have two different USB receivers). I've never had a problem with them interfering with each other in the past. Here's my problem:

When I open RO2, the mouse is almost completely unresponsive. The keyboard's responses are erratic at best. I've tried unplugging the receivers and plugging them into different USB ports (also tried USB 2.0 vs 3.0) to no avail. I've also messed with the smooth scrolling being on and off. I just built the PC but didn't have any problems till I first opened RO2.

Any suggestions?
Also, is there any drastic benefit to having a wired USB mouse vs. a wireless one?
Thanks!

Yes, this horrible microstuttering that can last for several seconds are pretty much my only bug/problem with the game.

I got:

Win7(ultimate) 64-bit
Intel C2D E8400 @3,8Ghz
NVIDIA GTX460 1Gb OC

And latest BF3/Rage BETA drivers

i tried almost everything and i finally found what was working for me

1. Go to nvidia website and get the 275.33 driver

2. Using the windows add/remove program, uninstall nvidia driver, nvidia hd audio and nvidia physX

3. Reboot computer

4. Install new driver, check the clean installation option

4. Reboot, enjoy ro2 with stable fps

no tweaks in nvidia control panel required

i read on the nvidia forum that a lot of gamers are getting problem with the 280.26 driver and most of them prefer to use the 275.33

before i did install the 275.33 driver, ro2 was unplayable, going down to 15-20 fps, now i get a VERY stable 60 fps + on every map

here is my rig/setp

windows 7 64 bits
Asus ENGTX 560 direct CU II
8 gig ddr3
i5 2.67 ghz

i hope this will help you

I suffer from microstuttering with an Nvidia GTX 580, though I did notice that a new driver update has been released as of 10/24/11 (i.e. today). I'll give that a shot and see if it improves or degrades gameplay performance.

Updated to nvidia drivers 285.62 and the game feels alot better now. I have not played long enough to rly confirm this but i recommend anyone using a nvidia card to try this.

W7 64 bit
AMD CPU(Phenom II 720 with last core unlocked and clocked to 3 Ghz.)
Nvidia GX460 768 MB
8 GB RAM

I've tested 3 different soundcard, and i get the best performance with my old and hald-defective Creative Audigy 2 ZS. Still get some microstuttering on some maps(pavlov and barracks), and sudden fps-drops here and there(usually when something important happens...like when somebody is shooting at me fairly close up).
