Microphone settings question

I'm having a problem with my mic settings in BF2 (PR), with TS and Mumble I have to change the device from "default input" to my sound card, but I don't see a way to do this within the game, otherwise I get extremely poor quality... what can I do?

Try this:
In windows, make whatever your microphone is plugged into the default recording device. Then give applications exclusive control.
