I think everyone should be forced to play with the MG42, all maps, all the time. RO2, RS, Westie mod, IOM, everything.
Discuss.
I have never felt any of MGs overpowered. If you use it for house cleaning and if you crouch you have more stability. If someone tries it in the open, he might be super lucky and kill one with the bullet storm. I have never experienced this though that Spartanovka - to name an example - is ruled by Rambo MGing.
I rarely (like 5 times in my entire 1000 hours of RO2) experienced an MGer hipshooting me from over 100m distance.
The weapon is realistic, CQB movement is not. Grab a lmg and chase a SMG teammate through a building next time you play, there's hardly any difference. That's the problem.
The MG42 is currently a better CQB weapon than the ppsh.
My gun typically flies to a corner of my screen in 1 secondThat's crazy talk. BTW, it's Germans or Axis in game, vs Soviets or Allies.
Looking for solutions here for what is viewed as OP lmgs, but in an acceptable manner for fans of realism.
Is it true, or am I the only one experiencing way too much suppression with the MG42? Its field of effect and duration seems way too big in comparrison with other lmgs, even the maxim feels tame while under direct fire. Bad enough the 42 is burping out 1200 rpm, but to be shaking behind cover in black-n-white with only one round hitting nearby is stupid afraid, especially if my player is supposed to be a "hero".
You must not play against me too much then. As MG I can regularly take people out at 150m without really trying very hard. All I do is start spamming the MG in the player's rough direction if he's got a bolt action then he has no chance to shoot me back because the MG suppression (which should be removed for rambo firing) completely negates his ability to aim accurately at me. Then I just walk the fire onto the player by using the tracers which is trivial because of the lack of recoil. MG rambo takes no skill.
I'd say suppression is realistic. It simply simulates how you wet your pants when being shot at. You are scared like hell to get killed. I'd even say, I wonder if I was able to bolt my rifle when an MG is pinning me down.
But you are not hipshooting them at 150m, are you? If you are capable of hipshooting accurately past 50m you are already quite skilled.
Shooting someone at 150m with sights is fine by me as you can basically do this with any weapon, except SMG and pistols.![]()
I once rambo'd a sniper on GumrakStation at ~200m. If I can see them I can hit them.
50m rambo kills are trivial for me.
Stood, crouched or prone? Moving or not moving? Leading into the target with the tracers or a very high first shot hit percentage?
