That is what I was looking for.

Will wait a bit longer... hopefully they get it sorted out.

The only issue I had with Metro 2033 was with performance. It wasn't bad or unplayable, but it was inconsistent. Like ArmA 2, one day it would work smoothly, and then the next day it would be running choppy in the same area, even when no settings have changed.

Well I ended up getting it.

I played it for 4 about minutes. The graphics are very good, but performance was awful.

I got to a part where I have to meet "The Hunter". We go through a hospital, and go up to a door, where I hear banging.

Then I get a black screen.

I can not minimize, control alt delete, or control shift escape.

Is froze real hard.

Had to hit the power switch to get my PC back up and running.

I updated Direct X before playing.

Specs:
GTX 260
AMD 9950
4GB RAM
Vista 64 bit

Anyone know how to fix this?

Now I wish I didn't get it. :(

Edit:

I forgot to mention, I updated the Physx and whatever else the game wanted me to update.

Tried it again, this time I got to see hunter, then all of a sudden I got a yellow flashing screen while he was talking.

Doubt it is my video card (hopefully not), but I was playing other games fine yesterday.

I don't feel like blowing my PC up to get this to run, so I will just advise people to stay away from this trash.

Sorry to hear you're having problems but trash is a bit harsh Flogger...

I have an ATi/AMD system, my flatmate has an Intel/AMD system and my brother has an AMD/nVidia system and we've all been through the game without a hiccup.

They were from retail copies, but I can't see why they're different to Steam copies.

It shouldn't be your video card. My system is almost identical to yours except that I have an Intel chipset. Never had those problems, but as I said before about the performance, you just never know with some of these games. I still don't think of it as "trash" though.

I consider any game that does not run for me to be "trash". ;)

Well, back to searching the last few planets in ME2.

I finished the game yesterday, not giving any spoilers but
A. last level wins one of the most annoying levels ever
B. I still have no idea what was going on throughout the game

I'd say it's one of thouse games that require two playthroughs, you miss so many subtle hints the first time, the second time though, it all starts to make more sense.

I passed. Looks pretty good but more like a linear Stalker and I cant stand unwarranted poor performance so meh. Got Bioshock for 5 bucks from the Halloween sale instead.

I'd recommend giving it a go if you can find it real cheap, because it's not quite like anything else, they really did a lot of cool things to immerse the player into the world, and it's worth trying just for that experiance, despite it's flaws.

But i say cheap, because several people here have had problems running it at all, suggesting it may be fickle about what hardware it wants to work with, so yeah, find it in a bargain bin somewhere, or a Steam deal, nice and cheap.

Yeah it's absolutely worth playing, some excellent experiences in it.

Spoiler!

Linearity isn't always bad.

I was about to uninstall this today, and decided to try and load it one last time.

Well, it worked. Amazing! :D

I played for a little over an hour.

Nice game so far, but it is linear at least as of now.

Need a bit help though.

*Spoilers*

I am playing on normal difficultly, and I just got out of the underground. Me and this other guy are trying to go somewhere, and we have split up.

I am exiting a building and I see many of the mutants outside... but I only have 7 rounds for my revolver. That is it. I am trying to kill them with my knife, but I can never manage to do it.

Is there something I am missing? :p Seems impossible to kill all of those mutants with just a knife and 7 shots.
