So, on servers that have friendly fire on, if I see a teammate near me go into slow death, I usually whip out my Nagant/Luger and put a bullet in his brain. Much less harrowing than dying a slow death by bleeding I'd imagine. I'm still penalized for this however. IMO if you shoot a teammate who has gone into slow death you shouldn't be penalized. It's a mercy for the player (who doesn't have to basically have everything but their mouse taken away from them for several seconds) and for the avatar, who no longer dies in a drawn out fashion but quickly and (i would imagine) relatively painlessly.

P.S: I am by no means saying I dislike the slow death mechanic- I love it and I think it adds to the game.

Potentially he could just become incapacitated after bleeding and require medical assistance, thus you've terminated a man who could have been saved.

I'd rather not be TK'ed thanks, if I can bandage myself I will and if I die, I'll respawn and you don't cost the team any points by conducting said TK.

I mean people who are very clearly in the slow death thing, with the chattering like "heh...they finally got me" and the staggering and doubling over and not moving. Also, if the suggestion was implemented clearly you wouldn't loose team points anymore.

Quite true, but in RO combat ineffective = dead, so while that does throw the "helps the avatar" out the window, it does save the player a few seconds.

Still, I would rather players on my team focus on moving up and capturing, or defending the objectives, not wandering around looking for teamates to "put out of their misery". It's hard enough to get players to move to zones as it is and seems like a completely useless and excessively complicated game mechanic with associated coding to implement for no historical legitimacy or gameplay gain.

I agree with slyder. + slow deaths last up to a most of 5-7 seconds ... so its more of a waste of your own time.

One of the reasons I like RO over any other FPS I've ever played, is because I quite frequently get an emotional reaction from playing it (especially when something new is changed/added).

Point being, today I was playing the beta and had a friend hit and start slowly bleeding to death in front of me. After dispatching the German bastard that shot him, I felt quite bad for him and my mind immediately went to the OP's point. I wanted to shoot him. I didn't, but having the option to would've been nice.

Is it worth the developer's time? Probably not, but I don't think that the OP's idea, in itself, should be considered bad.

I'm not sure how much of a problem people wandering about acting as some sort of priest giving last rites with a bullet would be. Coding I can understand- I have no idea about coding and don't know how hard something like this would be to code.

Bringing up a pistol and firing takes a second in this game. Not too much of a waste to get one of your teammates back into the fight 5-7 seconds quicker.

I'm pretty sure you would get court-martialed in real life. Therefore getting points taken off seems more than fair.

While that may be true, in game purposes it would be useful to get a friend back into the fight 5-7 seconds sooner.

Admit it. You just like to have an excuse to pop some teammates in the face. :D
