Merc Report - More Explosions, More Bullets

Hello Mercs,

Last week we gave you intel on an old outpost that may have information on the Patriarch’s whereabouts. We won’t be sending you empty-handed. Horzine research and design has a few new additions for you to consider adding to your arsenal.

For the Demolitionists out there that are always asking “What else can we blow up, and how?”, we have the new HRG Kaboomstick. Fans of the HX25 Pistol will appreciate the increased pellets, double the magazine size. It has an alt-fire for even more boom when firing both barrels at once. Perfect for clearing away those pesky Zeds that have come in a little too close for your liking... and arming distance!

For the Berzerkers, a new ranged weapon. The HRG Teslauncher fires microwave rounds and has an alt-fire guaranteed to give mercs a shockingly good time. This assault rifle can deliver EMP grenades wherever needed most, disrupting Zeds and allowing you time to execute your plans to charge forwards to finish the job a little more personally, or backward at your own discretion!

For the Gunslinger who either can’t find a weak point or stopped caring when that Fleshpound broke the line, the team at Horzine has heard you and has developed the new Glock 18c with an integrated silencer attachment design for you!! Usable as a single Glock with semi-automatic and full-automatic fire modes. Pick up a second one to commit to full auto only, showing you really know how to toss lead downrange and clear a path for that tactical backward push with the Demolitionist. Negotiations over, the sentence is death.

And finally, we have the Blunderbuss built for Demolitionists and Support specialists. A closer range firearm that utilizes a flintlock single action revolving drum magazine for 3 cannonballs of Jolly Roger Joy and cannonball shrapnel right where it will hurt the most, and that is anywhere you want it to be! The cannonballs do not explode until they make contact with a surface or a Zed, allowing some hallway clearing opportunities, without ever having to look down that hallway! To really shiver some zed’s timbers, hold down the trigger to save the explosion for the perfect moment, triggering the explosion once let off.

As a reminder: HRG weapons are free for all users, while the Glock 18c and Blunderbuss are purchasable after the Summer Update Final Launch as Weapon Bundles packed with weapon skins for cosmetic customization. The Glock 18c is a different weapon from the previously released G18 and Riot Shield combination featuring a new model, textures, animations, VFX, SFX, and gameplay differences.

Okay so, I already felt that way for previous HRG guns, but it's even more jarring here for some reason: they are damn ugly. I get that we're supposed to be able to differentiate them from the regular guns, but wouldn't it be possible to simply apply different skins? Like let's say I got a woodland camo and a gold boomstick... Couldn't I just choose one for the HRG version and the other for the regular one? Or anything really besides that boring white and blue that looks straight out of Apple.

OTHER THAN THAT

Kaboomstick : I thought you reached peak-comedy with the Doomstick, but that's even funnier (and it's no sarcasm, I truly snorted). However, what gets my attention is definitely that it's basically the HX-25 on steroids. Always wished for a proper successor to that very handy PDW, and here it is ! I do have to wonder how powerful it will be... I suppose it will have a very short range, but having pretty much an explosive boomstick does sounds like overkill, against fleshpounds mostly. I have a strong feeling that this won't be a simple alternative to the boomstick...And as such, I expect a T3 at the very least. I guess we'll see. But I'm sold on the idea alone.

Teslauncher : That one I'm really not sure about. What do you mean by microwave rounds? Is it similar to the Helios? If so well... can't say I'm too giddy about having a Helios rifle in the hands of a zerk. I know a lot of people asked for a new ranged tool for the perk, but I somewhat thought it would be a pistol or maybe a bolt-action rifle. An assault rifle seems problematic, even more so considering his skills. He's already stupidly fast and tanky... Won't that make the zerk a one-man-army? Time will tell I guess. Having extra EMPs grenades does sound a bit ludicrous too, considering how helpful they are. Sure, healing grenades are also very handy, but your teammates (and yourself) need to move to the proper zone. Here, you can pretty much bombard a zone full of zeds and watch chaos ensues. Meh...We'll see.

Glock 18C : Unlike pretty much everyone... I love the design of that gun! It reminds me of the Automag-9 from RoboCop ! It looks stupidly retro-scifi... Almost like the Tesla Cybertruck ! What doesn't please me nearly as much is the fact we're getting the G18 behind a paywall yet again... I don't really want to pay 10 bucks twice for the same gun. And when people asked to get it without the riot shield, I don't think that's what they meant. I also wonder how the headshot damage bonus will work with the gun... I think it might melt zeds like butter with the extra RoF. I also find it a bit dumb that you cannot use single fire while dual-wielding them... Why wouldn't you be able to use the mouse3? I do have to agree that you answered the call of many people crying for a full-auto pistol for the perk. Juuuust would have liked another one, just for being extra fancy.

Blunderbuss : The troll weapon to end troll weapons! Ain't gonna lie : I've yet to find a game where that weapon doesn't feel like a joke. HOWEVER. It does seem to be a pimped-out blunderbuss... Somewhat similar to the Loose Cannon in TF2. Having three shots sounds like a great improvement. And one can only hope that we won't need to suffer the excruciatingly long reload time of its Call of Duty version... I do imagine that it will be at least a T4 however? Judging by its apparent raw power and somewhat versatile use, at least in the hands of a demolitionist. Will it be useful in the hands of a support? Eeeh...That's doubtful really. Only three shots that doesn't seem to pierce but rather do explosion, that really doesn't feel up the support's alley, is it? UNLESS it fires a single, high-powered, black powder shot? I don't exactly know, but it does feel more like a demo gun the way you put it.

And bottom line... FOUR WEAPONS? No matter that two of them are DLCs. After seeing the meager content of the previous update, I'm just glad to see you're back in shape! And they all look at the very least...pretty interesting, and somewhat creative.

I mean, they pretty much did the opposite that what most game devs do : instead of taking an existing weapon and making a new skin for it...They instead took the same appearance and applied entirely different stats to it!

I'd say that's pretty cool. Even more so when it brings truly new flavours to the game. If it was merely a slight damage buff or extra bullets in the mag I wouldn't be fussed by it. But here? Bring it on!

(The color palette looks bad though, I'll give you that)

All its speculation until we got in our hands a copy of it. About ppl saying when handing a zerker wep... the hemo HRG its for specifically zerker, cos more ASP% and can tank vs 5 inrage fps (not qfp apart) using wisely the special attack and the rounds/mag left obv. About the robocop glock i really like it and it exist, in fact, that model in real life. Please need the beta to be released now ! xD

You'd probably be the only one my friend. Characters sold poorly. Apparently, guns aren't faring better. Do you really think people would throw ten bucks for something that has no impact on gameplay whatsoever?

No way in hell. That's just wasting time and money.

And like it or not, but the Auto 9 actually looks A LOT like that Glock. At that point, you're just coming up with reasons to hate it. Which is mighty fine, but don't pretend it looks better...As they are so damn similar they could have called it the Auto 9 instead of G18C.

I'm surprised that the new HRG weapon is an improved version of Boomstick and HMTech-501.The players around me have discussed the feasibility of dual glock18c many times. I'm glad that you have fulfilled the wishes of KF2 players.I'm surprised by the appearance of blunderbuss, but the theme of the next version is pirates. This weapon really fits the image of pirates.

Don't really get why you'd want the G18C to be crossperked with the sharp...? Like, it's not up its alley at all. Even regular pistols are not part of his arsenal, merely revolvers.

And as someone already wary of the amount of DPS you could do with the GS damage bonus, imagine how that would end up with the sharpie.

However, I didn't think about the HX no self-damage... Now that you speak of it, I really hope the Kaboomstick has that bonus indeed !

...Because mouse3 already has a function? You could make it go through a sequence like DefaultAim/SingleFire, DefaultAim/AutoFire, AltAim/SingleFire, AltAim/Autofire, and then loop through them but it'd be unreliable in heated situations. KF2 is a fast-paced game and even single on/off toggles can get jumbled up in the thick of it already. Not to mention something like what I proposed would require more effort than re-using existing code and that's been an increasingly unlikely prospect over the last year...
