The game hasn't lived up to what it was supposed to be. If you read older previews there are things I didn't notice in the demo. One of these examples is the environment, in the Gameinformer edition that revealed Airborne for the first time, when you landed on the roof, shingles would break off as you slid down it and it was possible you could get caught on a gutter or something. I landed on a roof to see if this would happen, and I just landed there and was walking freely as if I had put in /noclip to get myself on the roof.

Wait, wait... You can jump from rooftops and not hurt yourself? Like I pointed out after the initial PR trailer and got flamed for saying?

If I've understood you correctly, then consider this my "I told you so" to all those who bought into the hype. I'm going to go and smirk now.

Well not really mate. All thats required is to alter the settings. I beleived I mentioned the equivalent of CKR (crow king realism) oh a few times LOL. =IcM= play both MOHAA and RO in the following flavours:
1 RO
2 RO with match mutators
3 RO with realism mutators (1 life only)
4 MOHAA patched to version 1.11 with CKR and DMW anti cheat.
5 MOHAA freezetag
6 MOHAA CTF
The point of this is to say that we don't play the game 'out of the box' we mod it via 3rd party mods to get what we want. To moan about how far you can fall without taking damage in Airborne is almost as pointless as moaning that RO is a respawn game. Both can easily be altered.

It appears (and I'm sure few will disagree) that the present form of Airborne is primarily aimed at the single player market (further,at the console owning single player market). Until the fabled MP patch is released any further comments are pointless. I could witter on about how crappy the SINGLE player element of RO is but I'd be missing the point wouldn't I..... As we ALL know, RO is meant as a multi player game, whereas at the moment at least, Airborne is a SP game with slight leaning towards MP. Don't even mention the public servers as they are not run and adminned by clans who have an interest in them.

I just can't understand, I genuinely can't, why people are trying to compare the two games. Beyond the fact that they concentrate on the same era and are both FPS's, there is NO similarity. They have different target audiences. Its almost and I stress ALMOST like peeps are trying to defend their game by justifying it and its mechanics. Listen carefully: THERE IS NOTHING TO JUSTIFY AND NO REAL COMPARISON!!!!. Its OK to like either game, its also OK to like both!!. Why the constant sniping?. I like Rugby Union, both playing it, refereeing it and watching it on the telly, it doesn't mean that I say that anyone who likes watching/playing Football has no idea of what they're talking about, and that Football is only a game for idiots who can't handle a REAL game (actually I do LOL but thats another story :D )

There are far more important things to be worried about: Those who think that even playing a FPS leads to some sort of irrevocable descent int violent behaviour. Those who justify releasing a half finished game on the basis that it "can be patched". Those who develop a new game, find it won't work on current technology and blithely inform the paying public that they will not only have to pay for the game that junior wants, they'll also have to buy him a new graphics card and better CPU to go with it!!

Those that will give Airborne a go will do so whatever is written here. They'll no doubt be the same as me (waiting ever since MOHAA) hoping against all hope that EA don't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. Those who really don't want to play it won't play it no matter what they're told. Me, I'll play either. Maybe in a few weeks after I've played both to death fully patched and modded, I'll tell you what I prefer, maybe I'll just keep it to myself and enjoy playing a game ;)

Well on a lighter note, I set up a game on my computer yesterday with the intention of trying it out with a few clan m8's from =IcM=.
It was a laugh, it really was. Just a different type of game play running about and shooting folks, getting shot out of the sky by others and a bit of pnwage here and there.
It should be alot better once it is mod'ed and we have some of the more questionable settings changed (mentioned in other posts) and the dedicated server patch...........

A big thank you goes out to Sparaduke from FMJ who dropped by for a round or two and truely was a formidable apponent indeedly, well played m8.

Can't wait for MP.
Friend of mine was playing it last night. He says the levels look really pretty, but the design is utter garbage. Promotes spawn camping and ridiculous tactics. He gave it a good run to make sure it was just a knee jerk reaction but in the end he couldn't take it any more. His verdict was that it's woeful.

I think that the MP will probably go the way of Dark Messiah's MP. Any who actually played that will understand.

OK, that "Storm" leader with the MG42 and ability to withstand multiple magazines of lead is absolutely ridiculous. I was thinking, "Did I just enter Return to Castle Wolfenstein?" Goodbye realism!

I think not only did you enter but you sat down and had a 7 course meal. Every WW2 game needs to have "bosses" to fight. That's a fact.

Well remember Colonel (?) Baron von Sturmgeist or General Yamash1ta? Medal of Honor has been using boss battles for a while now.

Call of Duty could actually use a boss battle, because their games always seem to end in a big *** battle that fails to satisfy :D

Well, the MoH series keeps on getting more arcadey as it goes along... The game had really good graphics and pretty effects, and was pretty fun to play, but do you really need little red crosses to tell you you hit someone? Lots of little gay features. Worth maybe 20 bucks for the single player.
