Yup!

Im getting this for the bf3 beta and the single-player. But yes, this is aimed at the COD market hence the shoebox maps.

MP does sound disappointing but hey ho, aint always about the multi-player you know..

Considering the mp is such a joke I really wouldn't have such high expectations for the sp. Such poor decision making on one end surely can't just be absent on the other.

I like it how roles have been reversed and now MoH takes the squad approach and CoD is the more rambo-style one.

MoH is supposed to have a more squad and closer to the soldier's feelings approach (riiiiight...), am I correct? How can you achieve that in a shoot everything that moves games is kinda hard, only saw it in HL2 where the whole world was really immersive despite rebels acting so stupid it cracked you up some times. While in MW2 sp, I only liked the defending of the small American town, the rest I found too sci-fi, and I suspect something similar will happen with MoH. And I am pretty sure I wont get the chills I got back in Omaha in MoHAA (can't count the times I played that map).

Anyway, my point is don't get your expectations too high, you might break a leg coming down.

I quite like the MP and it's rather slick whether you love it or hate it (as many here have pre programmed themselves to do). Regardless you get the Afghanistan feel which is nice and it looks great. You die a lot though which is symptomatic of a typical CoD peer. Still I am in it for the SP as I have said all along. Guns sounds are rather tasty as well. And it has that hunkering down behind a rock feel while under fire that works so well in BC2. Can't wait for the SP.

There doesn't appears to be destruction system on the scale of BFBC2 so why has prone still not been implemented. They claimed there were issues with clipping and destructible objects in the frostbite. Now they have no excuse.

The movement is still as restrictive. No prone, no lean, on rails running. I presume the real reason for these being left out are because the game has been designed for consoles. There can be no other logical explanation. It's a huge step back, I'm used to modern games having a lot of freedom so to remove fundamental aspects of this for no reason is just poor design.

Having said all of that it's still enjoyable, it's not very challenging and is fun for quick game of public. I'm sure the single player will be immersive, hopefully longer than the last MOH. Not sure it'll be worth the full price on release but probably worth picking up in a year or so. :)

Pre-programmed themselves to do? I was a goddamn moh fanboy as can be seen on the early pages on this thread, but imo the game just really blows after having played 2 betas. I didn't give hope up yet for the SP portion, but that apache vid with choppers flying 10m above a hostile village kinda made me doubt the sp part too. And with pretty much half-arsed mp I'm never going to spend any more than say 20

I'v enjoyed the beta.

Miles better than MW2. Far more balanced with much less bullsh*t.

I see hacks already making the rounds in the beta...

Love the sounds and atmosphere. The ambient sounds are great.
The smoke look ugly, and drops FPS....

Oh, there are server filter options to the person who said tehre wasn't :)
Playing in hardcore mode, no crosshairs servers certainly changes the run and gun gameplay

LOTS of spawn camping. I died/spawned three times in the same spot in a row (main base or whatever is called) before being able to sneak behing cover :s

I'll try that. Been using automatic server match until now

I saw someone rain down continuous mortars and airstrikes on spawn. I dunno it didn't seem like normal play....

I just played the beta for a couple of hours, and I must say, this is gonna be a definite stay-away for me...

I mean, we still got the crappy console hit boxes, anyone shooting you behind cover will most likely be hidden (definitely his gun), guns swing around just as much as in BC2, and you basically got a port of BC2 in a different theme (which I thought I would like) but with much smaller maps that are littered with cover.

And the worse thing is that just like in BC2 you feel like everything in the world is extremely round and clunky (soz not a native English speaker so I'm not sure if this is what I actually try to say) and combined with the lack of prone and stepping up on obstacles makes it all the worse. Just give us the ability to easily overcome small rocks etc instead of twitching your camera and maybe change your direction a bit as well as having to jump in a way that makes you thing you are floating for some seconds (gun swinging also plays a role here).

I guess you get the picture, its basically the same as BC2, a console port that when played on pc it gives you the impression that you should do some things very easily and naturally but instead the game hampers you down somehow...

Edit: Just wanted to add that other similar games like CoD4 that include the ability to go prone have lots of vegetation and blown up stuff that you can easily hide behind. BC2 and now MoH try to compensate for this lack of proning by adding lots of big covers (like all those rocks) but this adds the feeling that you basically cant really know when you are or not safely behind cover and as a result most of my deaths were when I was sure I was in cover (this might be a latency issue but I doubt it since it was basically the same reason that made me quit BC2). All in all, I don't think I will play the beta again...

The atmpsohere, ambience and sound effects is top notch. Just lobbing a gnade and watch it pop, rocks flying around and hearing the echo around the valley and the staccato echoes of distant filtered nearby gunfire is reall nice

Hope RO:HOS is up to par, then I'll poop my pants! :)
