I really hope they bring back planetary exploration. Some people might have thought it was dull but if it was fleshed out more it would have been amazing.

There was just something awesome about being able to land on some serene orange-skied planet and look at how alien everything was.

Agreed completely. Touching down on some strange world and looking up at the unfamiliar alien sky was a sight to behold. Plus, hopping out of the Mako to use the sniper rifle for more XP per kill was good too :p.

You guys are too nit picky :p

As cliche as it may be it does make sense, after all humans have clearly established themselves as the most dangerous race to the Reapers in both ME1 and ME2.

I am hoping for some epic ship to ship battles, being able to command the Normandy during a space battle would rock so hard.

I also agree, but considering the price ($60) I think ME3 will be dumbed down even further.

Generally a $60 PC game = crap.

So I doubt that feature will return.

But as you said, more detailed exploration with better layouts of the random planets would be very fun. I really liked just driving around on the many planets.

Yeah there was one planet in a star group that you could land on that orbited a binary star system, you could see both in the sky. Or you could see the planet's moon VERY big on your screen because it was only a few centuries from impacting the planet. Or a very large blue giant in the sky on a scorching planet surface. I really think they need to add in exploration but have some missions at least. And interesting skies!

I believe this is the moon one I referred to.

Wha..? I don't even...that's akin to thinking Tripwire will screw up HoeS. Why would Bioware, when we know they changed things in ME 2 in regards to complaints in ME (probably over reacted in some cases, but they responded to complaints nonetheless) mess up the Mass Effect series? You remember that they track all kinds of stats of how people play (like which class is most popular, how many have completed the game multiple times, etc.) right? You think they do that just for fun? No, they use it to develop ME 3 and other future content.

That's the most stupid statement here I've read in a long time. Seriously, how much prejudice can you have and how simple-minded can you think?

Recent $60 multiplatform games have been crappy.

MW2 - Expensive, less features. Major let down.

Wasn't BF BC2 $60 originally to? And that was a huge let down.

Black Ops - A lot of bugs, poor porting job. A big let down.

Recent $60 mainstream PC games = major let downs.

DCS A-10? Completely different as that is a PC game and a simulator, so the $60 price tag makes sense.

$55 for HL2? Good, because the SP was done well and bug free plus it came with CS:S. Not to mention it was mod friendly.

The whole "lets make all platforms equal, and charge PC gamers $10 more to be equal to the consoles" just screams that it will be a game designed on the consoles.

But, if you play ME on consoles, then this is of no issue to you.

Hopefully, the story is up to ME1 quality and it turns out not to be a poorly done console port. But the $60 price tag does have me worried.

I call shenanigans on BC2 being "a huge let down". Definitely the best online FPS last year, especially after summer patches. Also, it was released 50$ for PC.

Just because all the other games are worse doesn't mean it is good - just my two cents

200 hours on my account says it's good, very good. To each his own, but it's nowhere near a let down.

I've only played ME1 so I'll be careful not to read ME2 spoilers in this thread, but one thing I loved about that game was that it was made or written by scientifically literate people who actually know a thing or two about astronomy. That was very refreshing. The portrayal of celestial objects was quite accurate and I liked reading the planet descriptions. They certainly didn't dumb the game down in that department. It actually kindled my interest in astronomy. The space exploration was great and really swallowed me in. It was fun to move from galaxy to galaxy and discover the systems there. I imagine that once we have the technology to travel beyond our Solar System, landing on a foreign planet might look similar to the view you see in ME. :)

I wished there were more interesting side quests though, they were all pretty much the same on most planets. But if ME2 and ME3 are as good as ME1, they're a buy for me.

Good trailer, and of course they'll add space exploration, duh! :D They'd be crazy not to add that.

There must have been an issue with the price where I saw it as it was $60 in a store.

And I am positive it was not a collectors edition or anything special.

ME2 has far better side missions than ME1. You have to prove planets to find them.

Get the game.

So true, they really sucked me into the universe with the codex. They give history and explain how certain things work. Of course Element Zero is an easy thing to put in to explain something, but they do make the storyline so that the reliance on Element Zero is the reason why the Reapers are able to do what they do. I've probably read the entire codex.

Pics or its BS.

If what you say is true, the police will run your house over with some :IS2:s.
Sorry, can't show pics, it would reveal my method and possibly expose me and lead to criminal prosecution.

On an unrelated note... how the hell do you buy weapons in ME2 and why did they take out crouch?? Seems pretty retarded. Other than that, great, I like the new combat system where you don't have infinite ammo anymore. It feels like an actual shooter now. A shooter with a damn good story.

Also I bought the mining upgrade thingie with iridium IIRC... don't notice any improvements to the boring as hell but necessary mining.... am I missing something? What does the upgrade do exactly?
