The March Tunis Telegraph is now here!

I can't believe our last update to you all was January 28th 2007! Apologies for the long wait, but unfortunately at this time of the year with exams looming on the horizon a lot of peoples attention switches away from mod work. It is something all mod teams have to face and we are trying our best to get work done during this difficult time.

Well in this combined February and March edition we have as promised an in depth interview with Chris Renshaw, the man behind our menu music, which you heard a draft of last month. He lets us know how and when he got into professional composition and what he thinks of the music we have asked him to do for us. We also have screenshots of models such as the SDKFZ 222, Mills Bomb M36 and Nobel Charge.

However undoubtedly the highlight of this issue is our British Player model. He has been crafted with love and affection and I am sure this shows in the final results. Cosmo and Tman provided the base model which was then optimised and polished off by Andrei. Aeneas will have the enviable task of giving it a texture once he returns from America!

Any questions just ask!

Looking good. Apart from new models/maps are we going to see gameplay changes?

We know RO has some annoying things. e.g. SMG recoil as if they are firing 88mm shells @ 1 billion RPM. Are you guys intent on sorting this out? I was dissapointed when all RO did was base recoil on how fast the gun fired and nothing else. When you take that into account, you get an MP44 more controllable than a PPSH.

Although the thompson did have quite a kick, i hope the recoil is more realistic instead of balanced (or nerfed). Let us, the players sort that out. And obviously the kit limiting system so everyone wouldn't be running around with SMG's would sort it out aswell. I just feel the SMG's in RO have to be treated like MG's (especially the PPSH, useless unless rested or prone or unless the enemy is less than 5m away from you) which totally eliminates the whole point of an SMG.

Anyway, people have probably already talked about this. It's not gonna get fixed in RO so that's why i'm pinning my hopes on a major mod getting it right.

Awesome stuff, keep it up.

I have to say the British player model looks just a little skinny and boyish. Overall the mod looks to be coming along nicely though!

Yeah a texture will make a world of difference. ;) The British soliders would not be very fat with all the excercise, small rations and sweating with the intense heat, so we did not want to make him look chubby. :)

No, you're right, that's not bad..
Just to me RO was always different from CoD (and I don't mean gameplay, but the maps, the architecture) and then - BAM! - Tunis map from way back. :)

haha, well i designed the map that the thompson is shown in and i've never played CoD2 online. Sure, there are similarities in appearance--it is still north africa after all--but i can assure you i haven't modeled the map after "toujane."

dont worry!

Yeah even a CoD2 map could play well with RO style gameplay. Remember kids, the issue with CoD2 wasn;t necessarily map design and appearance (in fact many of their maps looked really quite good) but with the run and gun gameplay.

Don't be silly. It was the small maps. Great looking? Yes. No argument. Their best artwork by far but the dumbing down of the maps to suit the console market first....unforgivable. What they did to 'Dawnville' should have been righted only with their heads on pikes! Then to add insult to injury, the merry-go-round spawn system. Oh joy!

You guys have so far to stoop to even dream of butchering on IW's level, I have no doubt you'll do fine.
