Anybody know if the Mare Nostrum team might work on a mod for Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad?

Personally, I loved Mare Nostrum...and it represents one of my favorite theatres of WW2.

Now, if a Mare Nostrum 2 or equivalent is NOT going to be made for Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad, then I would very much like to know. I plan to be doing some modding for RO2 on my own - and am already forming a team for such. If Mare Nostrum 2 is not being remade, then I would very much like to create a north-africa mod to take its place in this new game.

If anybody has any information on this, please let me know.

Ah, so I would assume that's a no to making a Mare Nostrum 2, then. At least not while that mod is being developed, which I understand will be a very large amount of work.

Edit: If anybody who worked on Mare Nostrum could post in here as well to confirm whether or not they would mind me making an attempt at a sequel to Mare Nostrum, for the new game, that would also be awesome to know.

I'm not part of the MN team, but I would say there's a fair chance that you won't be allowed to call it a sequel. I daresay that you'll have no opposition or competition as far as creating a North Africa based mod along the same lines as MN, but you won't be able to use the Mare Nostrum name, nor refer to it in any way that might suggest affiliation with it.

Oh, I'm fine with that. I didn't want it to be a sequel or anything of that nature. The only reason I was asking for permission is due to the fact that I don't want to start working on a mod if there are already plans for the exact same thing already.

No plans for that. Yoshiro is correct - just dont call it Mare Nostrum 2 or anything. Good Luck! :)

Alright.

On a related note, if anybody with talent in game design, or with the UDK, wants to help make a north africa WW2 mod a reality for Red Orchestra 2, send me a PM. I'm personally not very skilled myself, but I am devoting my time heavily into learning the UDK at the moment (as a side note, if anybody would be willing to help teach me how to use that, any help would be appreciated as well, though the documentation has been very thorough thus far).

I have a couple of others willing to help, primarily friends of mine, but very few with actual experience in game or mod design. Any help is appreciated. If we gain enough support and can get a good team together, then we will likely get our own website and forum - just need to see if this goes anywhere for now.

Oki few tips:

1. Build up internal forum if there are more than just 3 or 4 of you.

2.Dont plan anything to germans for first relase, just make afrikan korps
texture to them

3. Plan only a minimum allied content, which is basicly.
Rifle, Smg, Lmg, Nade and charachter.

4. Plan 2 to 3 playable maps

Thats something where you should target on first relase.
At least if you are doing your first mod.

Frankly, I don't think we could prevent you from calling it 'Mare Nostrum 2' (I may be incorrect!).. however I think the team (myself included) would politely ask you to not call it 'Mare Nostrum 2'.

There were ALOT of contributors to Mare Nostrum (which it would never have come out without!) but many of the core persons that worked on it the last two years are now working on In Country: Vietnam, and so far as I know, there is no plans to make a sequel to Mare Nostrum.

The people who I had thought would help me with a North Africa WW2 mod have either changed their mind, or are currently unavailable. As a result, I am looking to either join the Rising Storm, or In Country, mod teams.

Though to be honest, anything seems possible at this point. If anybody wants to help with a North Africa WW2 mod at any point, don't hesitate to let me know. It will be a few months before I am to the level that I'll be very useful, but I can guarantee that I'll be dedicated to whatever it is I'm helping to make. :)

I put in an application to in-country. Though my lack of experience with previous mods makes it impossible for me to apply for Rising Storm.
