There is big problem for some peoples to understand map goals. Lot of players are attacking enemy while they must defend objective or else. You cant attack enemy if map is not suitable for that or else.

My suggestion is simple, show to player short and clear message, after he/she is ready to play. Than he/she must click submit button, so he/she understand mission objective. Here is example:

Its cheap, its not 100% solution but some players should take it.

Give spam messages like this after players die, especially with a black screen they do not have a lot of better things to look at.

I think it would be good only if you have "all hints" or some similar option turned on. It would be helpful for new players but it should be possible to turn it off.

the best you can hope for is a few players telling others to stay and that the guys rushing forward learn that they are wasting their time dieing so often without kills.

I would rather have this than some guys yelling at everyone through out the whole game. Talk about annoying. Honestly though the game needs something for players to understand the game types. A basic tutorial would be great. URT3 had something like this and it was well done. Many players don't know much about proper war tactics so something like this would really help people transition into RO. Just my thoughts.

Its better to use message box style, because humans dont respect any orders from anonymous guys, in general of course. Its something like attack on personality if you order someone to do something and you dont know him.

Its better to use neutral message box, which dont blame you or spam your game chat by orders.

When player enter the battle, message box give him feeling like he have order from real officer (fotography of officer should be here to make better sense). After that I think that squad leader orders should be more powerfull for team to obey them.

Good overall idea. I dont want a "submit" button, thats stupid.

But a general info at the start of the map whats your objectives are would be very useful! (are u attacker or devender)

fact is, the messages won't stop/correct anyone.

When the noobs get to the objective, they usually aren't sure what to do. They just know they are supposed to kill bad guys. So they sunder forth and die when staying put would be optimal.

Only way to really remedy this is their own trial and error essentially through a (pardon the pun) extinction process.

I think it's a good idea, not too different than what you might see in a SP game and it might get new people at least thinking.

I also like the idea of being able to toggle it off. :)

I like the idea, but next to this it requires a change in behaviour on how they play the game. Thats why I always enjoyed playing on a server with regulars who not only knew how to play, but also where motivated to play a map how it was supposed to play.

To often you could hear people/commanders shouting in chat and typing what to do and simply got ignored. A number of players just like to do what they want and play their own game. Which can be very annoying if you are busy capping an area and just needed that extra man.

So the idea is good, but needs motivated players who are willing to listen and play as it should.

This could be done a lot easier i think, just by flashing some large text on the screen the first time players spawn on a map, like say:

"YOU ARE ON THE DEFENDING TEAM"

"YOU ARE ON THE ATTACKING TEAM"

Just flash that up in the top center of the screen just long enough for people to read the text, and it'll only happen once per map as you start out.

A lot of games have done this, it's simple, but it tells the players what they need to know.

And no, it won't prevent players from choosing to ignore the purpose of the map, but nothing short of taking away players free will would, so that's allways going to be there.
But atleast it will give new players the right idea about how to play the map they are on.
