Beta Map [MAP] TE-Yakovlevo

Thank you. Map updated and ready to be played at tonight's Custom Maps Sunday :)

Thxs tman29th.

I was on your server Sunday and had good rounds on FF1942 with a full server. 1st round Allies steam rolled us Axis, second round, rallied at B and held. I was second on the roster as a MG Hero gunning under my Steam alias "Prot0typ1cal".

Then... map change :)

Yakovlevo_CA loaded, wOOt!

I was all alone for a minute. Then BOOM, Apartments. WTF? Talk about adding insult to injury. LOL, just the feedback I was looking for Hahaha.

Sorry about that, it failed badly on our part  We had uploaded two different versions in a rush (server had updated version of your map, FDL had outdated version) which caused the mismatch error so we had to change to another map to get the games back going but at that point it was too late. Sorry for that. Better effort on next Sunday and we now learned not to mess around anymore on Sunday when everything is tested along the week ;)

np tman29th.

Just messing with ya, appreciate you giving it a go. Figured something was wrong as no one joined but me, no way 63 ppl rage quit all together! Yet, for some reason I had the updated version LOL.

Working on another update ATM (insert long change list). Recieved plenty of constructive feedback from RGN this weekend, will be another week or two before posting a much improved version. I know "how can you possibly improve this?". Details brother, details.

There is a big problem on the CA map, we were a dozen players with the same problems, a HUGE, i mean a really HUGGGGEEEE FPS drop looking on some parts of the map. Please check these areas to see if you have the same problem regarding FPS drops:

Problem is apparently when you look at B there is something wrong in that direction I don't know, you should investigate what is the difference with the normal version which seems to not have these problems (I did not verify but others on the servers told me that th non CA did not drop FPS like that at all, all was good).

That's what I first thought but I looked in the SDK, and this is the same as in the normal version, only difference was the random arty on the craters everywhere, that's what I noticed.. Maybe Twrecks can test a version without the arty volume.. I don't know it is really weird bug because when you compare maps in SDK, they are the same basically. But the mapper might know what others differences there are.

You might be on to something 7-CLOWN-7,

Some of the textures used in the screenshots have mip mapping (compression) disabled, because the first "brewing" destroyed resolutions horribly. The entire tower and cottage's thatched roofs as examples.

I'll try compressing them with the current brew and see if FPS improves. For GPU's with less than 2 gigs the uncompressed textures would cause FPS issues due to memory over-runs. Since I have a GTX670, I wouldn't notice it.

I have an old rig with a GTX 295 that I'll give the map a going over with, it only acts as my test server ATM because PIE (play in editor) and playing over a LAN changes a lot of things, always for the worse. My first test runs with wheat fields were 4-5 FPS, no matter where you were on the map. I was getting around 45 FPS in the current release.

There are also a few emmitters (smoke and dust), and dynamic light elements (clouds and light shafts), that may be dragging the FPS down in those screenshots. Those will also be under investigation.

Three animated actors, that could also get axed, are the windmill (rotator), big doors on the long house (movers, shoot the red star with a HE round!), and flag (cloth actor). Each drop FPS a few points. But these are in the tank version, and the hit isn't a big one like Romano experienced.

Don't suppose anyone notices the flag changes based on who owns the Iron Mine?
