About the German spawn after capping B. You spawn close to the objective you just capped, while it still open to defend. In realism mode it ain't that far to to cap C. Eventually people will learn that as Axis they just need to push forward for C. Allies will spawn further back by now and they need to pin them down at C. But as seen often. Axis start to defend B instead of keep the momentum and attack C.

It seems to be just fine in Classic mode too. The map always is always running on the 40-1 Clan Classic server.

We are currently running the TE version. I've never had any issues with the map personnally, and none of the clan members have complained. After updating a map, I usually force the servers to load it; then i jump in to make sure it starts properly. Can't recall any issues with this one. It's well liked, and we're running it on two servers. But with the larger assortment of maps available right now, the older customs don't win the vote as often. I regard the map as a must have. It's a staple.

Oh dear !! Serveradmins beware ! Coldsteel got updated.
To celebrate the fact that the map is hardly seen on servers and its thread needed some new blood I decided to update the map. With the new changes this update is quite of a gamble. Oh and I even updated the Countdownversion. Isn't that cool ?

Changelog:

Objective B Rollinghall no longer recapable.
Objective D (Distribution area 4 ) moved closer to E (Strippinghall )
This resulted in noticable shorter rundistance after respawn.
Closed some areas down.

More cover here and there.

Fixes:

Added back a huge amound of covernodes which for some unknown magically reason dissappeared from the previous release. I never touched these covernodes nor removed them on purpose. But they where not there anymore.

I've played it recently and finally took the mg class on this map last night (I hadn't lately) and I wondered why on earth I could hardly set up the mg except for prone...

Could it be related?

Well there where plenty of covernodes left so thats weird. Probably you picked the positions the covernodes where gone. They where gone in all trenches, platforms and other spots where you expect them.

But as nobody played it nobody complained so I had to find out myself to fix this. Its still weird that they where gone.

In my case and probably some other players too, I rarely use the cover function, so even playing you're unlikely to notice missing cover nodes.

Coldsteel will always be on our servers. This map is at least as good as any custom map available. There is nothing fundamentally wrong. I keep very close tabs on what is being played in general. Many of the custom maps are being ignored right now simply because of the proliferation of new maps. It's really that simple. This is particularly true with map vote servers. The public gets all hooked on the new entries for awhile and then spreads out again. Maps can always be improved, but developers shouldn't be inclined to assume there is something flawed in their work unless they are getting vocal "push-back" from a variety of sources. :)

Another thing too, it that the public drift in herds. Ever since the free weekend, the stock maps are currently getting most of the attention. I expect this to change over time.

Nice changes on the last update. The first right window on the A objection on the German side can not be climbed through. Very minor, but can affect a player's experience trying to get into the cap wherever he/she can.

Still one of my favorite custom maps out there, very well polished.

Finally I manage to finish two games on a full TWB Rathole 64 slot server.
It was nice to notice both teams won once. First as Russian commander. We manage to cap the Strippinghall back and never gave up.And then I joined Axis as SL. Sometimes it was hard but Axis manage to keep pressure and won. The last changes seems to work.

Don't know the shedule but it will. Its seen more playtime lately on TWB servers.
And have been from day 1 on the RGN server. The 40- Classic runs it and last I was told attackers learn to attack and wins it now. So things getting better. Attack is about move in and kill not lay back and kill.
