[Map] Hotel Zed

Currently a WIP.

I am creating a sort of defensive style of map. The main building in the middle will have no spawns in it while all the ZEDS will come from outside. There are always two fronts for them to come from so you can't just sit and watch one doorway.

If anyone is interested in playtesting and or wants this to be on their server let me know and I will contact you when it is ready.

The map looks really sweet. Although, I do see a lot of those rooms upstairs being redundant. I'd be more than happy to test / have this map on my server when it's ready for release. :)

Ya they probably won't all be open lol some are just going to be scenic and I am putting 2 double doors in that hallway to mix things up defensive wise.

Maybe some ammo spawns to lure people in there to get trapped. :p Anyway, can't wait to see the finished product. Enjoy!

Wow how can you make cool stuff like that in just 8 days!

I have some previous experience with level design in UDK. That and they give you all the assets used to make the 3 maps lol

I decided to cut access to the roof for now. Design choice, I want to see how it plays out with no roof access

The super duper huge and open outside, first floor and upstairs need to be made way smaller and line of site breakers (for ideas that make sense, front desk, tables with sofas and decoration or something for downstairs. Brochure stands. Statues if a super fancy place but be careful with the geometry of weirdly shaped objects. Food tray carts and laundry bins) need to be added to prevent it from being a shooting gallery and super easy kite session. I would definitely make the outside small to have the hotel itself be the focus unless you have a parking lot or pool area for the hotel. Having the guest rooms be one way choke points makes for easy camps, but a lot of hotels and motels have connecting rooms that are usually locked off unless the doors are busted open because of a mutant outbreak. The second floor hallway seems pretty open as well. Maybe put some L turns in there to break line of site.

But yeah, a hotel would be really cool. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Since I started making this before the modular tutorial came out to show the correct way to use it. My grid got all messed up. I will be adding some props and changes to the level and make it playable so everyone can play it.

But for the most part I will be remaking this with the correct measurements. This will delay the map a bit. Getting feedback on how I have it now would be great though once I do get it up. Everything is theory right now lol

Just to update everyone on this. I am currently filling in the level, adding lights and making it playable so you can put it on your servers. hoping to get it up and running asap

I am going to redo the map from scratch and rebuild it with grid mistakes so while that test version will be playable a new version will be made that will be a lot better.

I will! Currently working on the pathing and it will be done after I get the Zed's working properly
