Maneater Known Issues PSA

Hey everyone,

We are so excited to see so many of you splashing around the gulf in Maneater, but we are aware some of you are being impacted by some issues which we know is not ideal. We want to let you know we are digging into these reports and the following is a non exhaustive list of top issues we are tracking and working on fixes for as soon as we can.

• Player camera gets stuck in the shark
  • There is a rare case where the player camera can get stuck in the shark after a cut scene. To work around, players need to quit to main menu and reload the save to clear this issue until a full fix has been released.
• Progress Loss/Save Game Issues
  • We are continuing to investigate this issue, but so far attempts to replicate it internally to find the cause have failed. We are looking for any and all player information about what could trigger this to happen.
• Achievements not be awarded after Hotfix 2
  • We believe these issues will not trigger on a new game, we are currently still investigating if achievements/trophies and unlocks not being rewarded can be retroactively granted, but currently we recommend players start a new game.
• Trophies Not Being Granted on PS 5
  • We believe we know what is causing this and are working on a fix

We continue be excited by all of you who have taken a bite into Maneater so far, doubly so for those that have and are helping us track down these issues in our bug forums.

Playing through the game, just about to go against scaly Pete for the first time with my lvl26 shark and the game crashed. It was late so i went to bed and in the morning the save file was gone! I then had to start a new load only for this to happen again!! I like the game but think is very annoying!!! Hopefully it can be fixed soon or have I just wasted £35

 

I completed Sapphire Bay at level 30 with 12 hours of playtime and upon receiving the quest to confront Scaly Pete I saved the game and went to bed. When reloading in the morning I am now changed back to the mother shark from the first lvl and stuck all the way back at lvl 11. Also, in the menu I cannot access my equipment/gear upgrades. The shark icon on the far right in the menu is darkened out. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Extremely aggravating.

 

Mine happened in Gulf I Landmark doesn't spawn it's the Subnautica It's preventin me from gettin Platnium

 

This might be a stupid question... why are there three save slots? I’m literally coming out the game after I play it and saving my file to the cloud AND a usb drive just so I don’t have this save file delete for the third time. But why have the three save slots when you can only ever save it to slot one on the PS?

One site has an article about a 1.03 patch it says is out on all platforms. Not on my Xbox anyway. No mention of the overheating problem, though I guess that could be included in 'stability improvements'. Would love an official word on this. Won't load it while there's potential of console harm.

Maybe set it to 1080p until you fix it?
First time I've seen a bug this bad, but in a game that I otherwise really want to play. It isn't Fallout 76 at launch, it's a single bug preventing any play.

Would love some comments on the progress and expectations. Should I forget about playing, return the game (physical copy which I can return over this), and check in after a couple months, or should I keep checking twice a day with hopes I might be able to play?

I sure hope you can find a way to claw back progress. Because if not, getting to lvl 24 only to have my save file corrupted for using my controller the same way I have with every other PS4 game is really a death knell for me.

 

I suppose I'm lucky in that I experienced overheat during the first attack the beach mission, which is basically still a tutorial mission. I'm gonna restart after patch just to have a nice new clean save.

 

It does suck that the one of the current solutions for people having already lost their save files is to “create local backups” of the saves. After spending $40 and 10+ hours of gameplay to just lose everything, I’m not even feeling comfortable playing again and might as well consider this $40 stolen from me at this point. Which is super unfortunate because I want to love this game so much but the broken nature of the experience and the loops you have to jump through as possible fixes aren’t worth the hassle.

 

I just lost my entire save data. I can see it on my Menu screen and its loading the save... Just made it to adult....ridiculous

 

Was at level 17 yesterday. turned the ps4 off at 730. At 930 I came back and turned on the game and it showed the correct file in the save slot of the game but when I opened it, it went back to the beginning. Everything lost.

today, I started again. grinded for 8 hours. Am now a lvl 30 mega and just beat apex orca. But this time, I have been saving my file to the cloud after every major achievement. At 9, I turned the game off again to put the kids to bed and came back and the same thing happened, I started my save file but it brought me back from the beginning. This time however, I had network backups. I restored the backup and was able to get into the spot I left off.
way to much work for something that shouldn’t happen. But at least I have a backup now. Apparently this seems to happen daily now.

also, tons of crashes. Like at least 10-15 during grinding the hunters. The more boats, the frame rate dipped tremendously and I’d crash,. If I didn’t enjoy this game so much I’d say screw it,

 

Save game deleted well after level 30. Forced back to level 20. Found the best solution to be;

1. Yelling abuse at the console/TV. (Unsure if you need to do this in any order)
2. Furiously deleting the game.
3. Kick back and watch Netflix

 

Also assuming due to Microsoft's certification process or whatever it is, Xbox will probably be last to get the update. Hope they don't drag their feet on it at MS. Thanks so much for looking into these issues!

 

Xbox one save file issue. Almost always with cutscenes reverting back to a random earlier time. Not playing until fixed.

 

I 100% every region and completed the game but its stuck at 99% complete. I should have gotten the platinum but never popped up. Please tell me I don't have to play the game all over just to get platinum.

• Xbox One X Overheating - We are aware that some Xbox One X users hare having an overheat shut down/message and are working with Microsoft to address this issue. We are also aware that a set up PS4 players are reporting something similar and also are investigating.
• Progress Loss/Save Game Issues- We are tracking this issue and have had some success in replicating it. These seem like the primary culprits of this issue impacting players, but we are continuing to investigate other potential causes as well. For now to help avoid this happening to you:
  • Do not play with a controller that can disconnect or lose power
  • Put your console or system into sleep/rest mode during your play session
  • Crashing after or during a story mission/cut scene
  • If possible, create a local or networked backup of a recent save file to return to if this does happen
• Not being able to 100% (Queen of the Ocean), Landmarks not counting towards completion- We are looking into locations that are not properly unlocking for players across all platforms
  • We believe we have found two causes:
    • Collectibles that are near region boundaries where players can unlock an item while not being in the zone the item is in - We are testing a fix for this issue now that should grant those items to the players once they swim into the zone
    • Collectibles that are gathered but the player dies shortly afterwards and do not properly get noted as unlocked - We are verifying this now
• PS4 Frame Loss - We are investigating reports that users are getting massive frame loss in some situations on PS4.

We to have a hotfix out to address many of these by the end of the week, or early next week. We continue be excited by all of you who have taken a bite into Maneater so far, doubly so for those that have and are helping us track down these issues in our bug forums.
