my first post

during the war it was quite common to send regular soldiers with mines, molotovs and cannons as a defense against tanks. i always felt it was missing from roost.
imagine hiding i a foxhole during a tank attack just waiting for the right time to rise and run towards the tank, plant a mine and take cover.
it would be awesome.

there where many anti tank weapons used on the eastern front.
a few more in the game would be cool.

i'd love to play a map where the germans have to hold out with panzergrenadiers against a large russian tank offensive.

Awesome idea. I was honestly considering posting a thread featuring the Maenner gegen Panzer video, but you beat me to it. I'd specifically like to see anti-tank smoke grenades. The Germans used something called the BK2H which is featured in Maenner gegen Panzer. Its a glass grenade with a seperate vial inside. When the chemicals within both compartments mix, it creates a huge smoke bomb which stays on the tank.

It would be cool if the map had designated spots where fox holes could be dug out. It would make the map more dynamic. Every time you play that map players could choose where to set up fox holes.

i think the most important is the magnetic mines and antitank mines.
but these bombs where quite large so one would have to use both hands to carry it. the smoke bombs are lighter and it could be possible to carry a few.

there could be crates or depoes around on the map with cool stuff like this.
so if a tank attacks everyone runs to the depo, pick up mines and spreads out over the fields with mines and other snacks in foxholes and trenches.

this would demand that the mines can be put down and left there if one needs to fire his rifle.

btw, great idea about digging foxholes.
would also add the shovel as a meele weapon

A good reason for coding an ability for cover manipulation, and having this capability working to help keep maps from falling into predictibillity, where the same defensive points, ambush points, and concealment points are used over and over again (and therefore anticipated by all sides).

I like the potentials of the ideas suggested above to enable infantry close assaults against AFVs, and the hand-held sticky or hollow charge weapons would be particularly interesting to consider for these (earliest version appropriate for the game-period of course).

I think it is absolutely imperative that this game has anti-tank guns such as the Pak 36/Pak 38/Pak 40.

Some modded maps in RO Ost have working anti-tank guns and they work brilliantly. They're basically just like a StuG gun that can't move. The flak guns and mannable AT guns in Darkest Hour also add a lot to the gameplay and are very useable.

The reason I'm bringing this up is because of how utterly worthless most AT rifles are against AFVs at most ranges and the fact that we're not going to have the fantastic Panzerfaust/Panzerschreck to counter armored vehicles.

In short....please give us anti-tank guns and FlaK guns.

german teaching video. everything is probably fake.
the soldiers might be real and they could be fighting with real ammo, but i guess there are no one in the tank.
the video was just made to learn soldiers how to use equipment and different strategies.

You should have had read the text instead of only looking at the pictures:

As you can see on the above photos, not only german stickgrenades were used to make this A/T charge.
Above in the middle are Swiss OHG-17 grenades, on the right photo Dutch No.3 grenades are being used.

in some of the books written by sven hazzel the germans sometimes tie gasoline bottles or cans of white phosphorus to handgrenades. not something for the game but since we are talking about homemade grenades...
