Theme: Infantry only maps, set in an urban theme, like Odessa, or Berlin/Koitos/Warsaw from the mod. The aim is to recreate some close quarters battle and urban fighting with intensefirefights and a hopefully some nice squad based face-offs.
General Map Rules: - Maps may be of any size, with any number of objectives, anything goes basically, within the scope of an urban battle.
- There will be no specific rules on classes, but please keep them sensible, we don't want to see an army of snipers, or a squad of only riflemen vs a squad of SMG's and MG's! - Maps based on historical battles would be ideal, but you will not be marked down for "invention". But please be aware that historical accuracy fits more with the whole idea of RO:O, and would be appreciated most!
- Bot pathing will NOT be considered in any submitted maps, but obviously it's nice preferred you include bot support.
- Ports of maps from the mod will NOT be accepted.
- You may NOT use textures or static meshes from the mod version of Red Orchestra, or from maps made by other modders (unless you have their permission). You may however use/reuse your own previous static meshes and texture, and any ones you may create in the future, as well as the works of others if you have their permission, and any artwork in the retail version of Red Orchestra.
Time Frame: The SDk has just been released, and hopefully people are already beavering away at meshes and maps. We're probably thinking 2 months at least before judging will commence, and we will see how projects develop with the release of the SDK before setting a firm deadline, to make sure people have enough time to present well tested and completed maps.
Prizes:
We will have various categories (as of yet undecided - but hopefully rewarding things like good original artwork/models, good atmosphere and innovative features), as well as the best maps overall.
The Contest Admins reserve the right to modify and add to the rules at any time. Any changes to the rules will be made public before they come into effect. We will of course be updating information as time goes on, so keep an eye open.
The {Core} EU and NA servers will both be available for use to test maps when the time comes. We will also be looking for people to judge the maps and choose who will win any prizes, so if you think you are qualified, please get in contact with me, Zetsumei or {Core}Steven.
