If I recall, the Devs specifically chose NOT to use the map to pick artillery points as it would results in commander's instantly calling artillery to the well known choke points on the map.

Indeed -- plus, during WWII and even Vietnam, most forward artillery observers had to get "eyes on" then cross ref with their maps before calling in a fire mission. Generally, that's still true today -- I guess you could argue that the recon plane is serving that "eyes on" purpose...but that's kinda cheating because it's automatic and error-free (based off line of sight).

That would not be a problem if maps were bigger then this super close combat :IS2:

EXACTLY. Who uses Binocs? When I see those people...I think "noob" and shoot them immediately.

I haven't used my binocs since I found out about F + RMB in 2011...

I disagree. There are at least 2 good uses for binoculars.

1) Get a better view of the enemy / emplacements / movements
2) Melee kills. Need to get that achievement.

Well if that was their coal I think they've messed up quite a bit. I can easily on most map use my binoculars to pick where I wan't arti without having to see it. As TL I can stand by the radio and aim at the direction with bin. up to set a pretty accurate spot. Just by setting marks on random trees and sometimes nothing at all. It works too random this marker. A better marking system and it taking a bit long to set a mark would be nice I think so you can't instant arti safely.

Well ehm okay.. So you also shoot all nobs? Is it even possible to play a server then without getting kicked all the time? :)

I agree with OP, even more now that the "caller" have assists points for each kill.

Right now you can spam F+RMB+M to get a sweet spot and binos are next to useless.
