Machete swap for knife

I am not gonna pull crazy suggestions like being able to throw machete at enemies etc...

I think I just want to be machete actually useful. How?
When you buy Machete, it will replace your knife. Which means, you not getting any weight cause of machete. It just replaces knife.

Now for +alpha, I really would like to see quick melee attack. So it means you perform quick knife/machete attack like in Bad Company 2, with damage equals to alternative attack.

quick melee attack with machete with 5-10 seconds cooldown from primary weapon or pistol would be so sex.

already it kind of acts for an emergency melee defense for non-zerkers, and I feel this would make that complete. So yes.

However, I think the throwing of machets is not so crazy after seeing the animations by yoyomassis:D

That was rendered in 3DS Max and has not been put in game yet though.

I used to support this idea, but now I'd say I'm not so convinced. I suggested this idea a while back before the Christmas update on the premise that although the machete did more damage, it was about as useful as the knife anyway. This gave a player no reason to waste 3 weapon slots buying the machete. I argued the only thing that could save it is if it served as a direct upgrade to the knife, replacing its slot and giving players a simply more powerful knife at the cost of

I didn't see machetes being used in serious games. Why bother buy machete, when you can get katana from zerk or buy it yourself on start waves. It will be useful for people who doesn't use melee much and still want to do some damage when it came to ugly situation.

All melee useful now, even somehow chainsaw, I think machete should be brought to more attention to make all melees weapons have it own meaning and purpose to carry.

i actually like the idea for Zerkers (and only zerkers) to be able to replace the knife slot with a machete. the class is going to be using so many melee weapons as it is, so why the need for the knife? the knife is now just as useless for sub-level5 zerkers as it is for every other perk, in comparison to the 9mm as inventory which is still much more powerful in the hands of the SS. if level1+ zerkers spawned with a machete instead of a knife as part of their inventory, it'd be deserved without being too "OP" as an inventory upgrade....unlike the suggestion for a SS getting a handcannon to replace the 9mm as that would be blatantly overdoing it......plus the machete would get more use. like sverek said, after wave 1 or 2 it's not like most zerkers are still using the machete anyway since they can buy one of the other melee weapons like the axe or katana.

this idea has my support :)

Well it already does that now. It does replace the knife cause if you press 1, there's the machete. How's that?

The machete is not = to the knife only stronger though.
The knife attacks ever-so-slightly-but-still-noticeably faster (and also -somehow- more precisely?) and can still decap trash with 1 normal hit to the head with a lv6 zerker swinging it even on hoe so there's no reason to completely remove it as an option just because you stepped on a machete.

What you could do is make it weigh 0 blocks but really, 1 block is nothing.
To non-zerkers, it pretty much is a rollback to the 1015 knife. Or more like it's the retarded cousin of the 1015 knife but still better than the current knife that got dull because you (yes you) just couldn't stop knifing walls with it.

I think I even saw somewhere in description, that machete is "better knife"

Problem I see with replace 9mm pistol with deagle, is that both guns using bullets. If there gonna be stronger pistol brought, that can replace 9mm sure. You have to buy it to swap 9mm.

But I just wanna see machete being swap for knife now. I see it realistic, since there no need for animations or new models or sounds. Code work as far as I can see.

I wouldn't want to swap my 9mm for a handcannon. They are two different pistols that I use for different jobs.

Is there a way to make the alt-fire work instead of regular fire when you click? I wouldn't mind this setup for the knife, but have regular fire for all the other weapons.


If you want the machete to come up first, bind "Select Melee Weapons" to a button. I use middle mouse, for quick access. Knife will come up if that is all I have, if I have a machete, that comes up first. This doesn't seem to work for chainsaw, though. I almost never zerk, so that is not an issue.
