But it can be very annoying to need to reboot everytime. And not everyone has a copy Windows.

People are missing the actual issue... the mac will LIKELY be able to run the game once the UE3 is ported, but the ACTUAL issue is that you have to pay far more to have the equivalent parts in a MAC than a PC (hardware wise).
he replied to a guy asking if MAC's would even be able to run it with their hardware, look at that? 2.5K and you get a quad xeon 2.8ghz, 3gb of RAM, and a 5770.

If you get a PC though (custom built or even through alienware) you can get much more hardware for your hard earned dollar.

Yes comparable hardware in a mac is more costly. The issue is the version of ue3 the games uses last time I heard was not mac compatible. Lets not forget many people will be playing this on any old pc.

The people with a mac that would actually want this game and not plants vs zombies probably have an okay machine.

Yep Mac's can get pretty powerful ;)

Oh and btw I'm going to ask you one question?

Would you prefer a Japanese car or a europeon car?

If you said Europeon your being a little bit hypocritical with your money laundering staments as you have just done what people with Macs do by spending extra on to brand loyalty, we know we're paying a tad more and we're happy to.

Please stop bringing up that argument.

I'm pretty sure we all are aware of that but it doesnt seem to be an issue to the people using macs.

P.S. Macs are PCs ;)

The MacPro is *not* a gaming platform, it's very disingenuous to compare that to a PC gaming rig. They're pretty much optimized to run image and video processing (AFAIK, I don't own anything of the sort), not do 3D graphics. Just so that it's clear to everyone, to compare you should check out the iMac:

http://store.apple.com/us_smb_78313/browse/home/shop_mac/family/imac/select?mco=MjIwNTQyNjEhttp://store.apple.com/us_smb_78313/browse/home/shop_mac/family/imac/select?mco=MjIwNTQyNjE

Now I'm not going to say it's better value for money than a PC, just a better comparison. There you'll get a quad i7 3.4GHz, 4GB RAM, a HD 6970M 2GB, and a very good 27 inch monitor for 2.3K.

Anyone got the links for how to put together a similar gaming PC? I'm looking to build a new one in, oh I dunno -- late August? :) I believe it has been said earlier in this (stale old crufty) thread that a PC would be $1500 cheaper than a Mac, which should put such a PC plus such a monitor about 800 bucks...

I have a friend with a gaming MacBook pro who would love to prove you wrong ;)

Brother, Macs carry the exact same hardware as a PC.

I agree that they do not usually have the same price-performance ratios, but a Macintosh computer equipped with a standard graphics card is going to be able to render graphics just as effectively as a PC with that same hardware.

At least on the hardware end. The only difference is the software, and Mac OS plus OpenGL are fully capable of rendering videogame graphics just as well as a PC with Direct3D.

Um, no.

So long as you don't plan on using that selfsame graphics card for OS X, 'cause unless it's an Apple blessed card, it's going to be blank screen for you. And because of that, the serious Apple machines are handicapped with GPUs that are 12 or more months behind the times. Want that shiny new AMD 6970? or better yet, the 6990? How about an Nvidia 580 SLI setup? Or a couple of 590s? No go on all of them, if you want to use OS X. Want to have an Apple blessed GPU, and stick in an extra real GPU and use Windows dual boot so it actually works? Well, you can, just hope you have enough PCI-E slots, and a big enough PSU - ooops - can't just swap that latter piece so easily, eh?

Fact is, Apple handicaps the top machine, the Mac Pro, to the ATI 5970. That's right - the 'ultimate' GPU for the 'ultimate' Mac Pro is a card from October 2009.

The only difference is the software...
Per above, no.

You get the idea - nice, pretty machines ( I own a couple of them), and if you must game on one, you can, but it is trivial to build a PC for much less that will walk all over a Mac Pro.

Care to elaborate?

What about that needs elaboration?

Pick up something modern, like a 6990. Bring it to the local Apple temple. Ask them to put it in their top-end machine, you want to test it. Sit back and have a laugh. Rinse. Repeat.

Alright I'm getting rather sick of this!!!

Why is it that every time Mac is mentioned I'm called **** like "elitist prick" yet you guys are more than willing to show off you e-peen and show me how much of a ****** I am for getting a Mac?

I'm not asking whether Mac or PC is better, I never said Mac was better, I just wanted to whether or not it's being release natively on Mac. I don't care about the best AMD cards or how **** Mac GPUs are, I don't care about how much more expensive they are.

I just wanna know if RO:2 will come on Mac!!! OK?
