Not really a "buff" per se, but how would you all feel about changing the M14's ironsight slightly to increase visibility (and ease of use)? I find that the EBR is actually pretty good if you use it ironsighted, like the LAR. But the ironsight obscures your sight so much....gives me a headache from squinting through it after a while.

As for realism, it'd make sense for someone to have filed down the top of the little circle part (the one that obscures sight). I mean, the previous owner might have disliked the ironsight too....

Well, you wouldn't file down the top of the circle part, it would make the sights useless. There are not 3 sights on the front, those two "wings" are there to protect the front sight post. They have dots on them because the modeler did not realize that they aren't really used for a sight. The rear ring blurs when you look through a riflesight, and your eye automatically puts the top of the front post in the center of the circle.

This is a pic from the US Army marksmanship manual. It should give you a better idea of what I am talking about. The dotted area is the part of the sight that is blurred when you are correctly looking through this type of sight.

I do agree that the sights need to be better. I use the M14 in game with ironsights almost all the time. The scrunched view is annoying and gives me eyestrain.

I've always thought M14 had a terrible ironsight to encourage people to actually use the laser dot. Which is kind of annoying since most of the time you stand still to line up shots anyway. And doesn't using any weapon unsighted have double recoil? Never noticed a huge difference because I barely use the M14 (or play Sharpie anymore).

Alternatively we could buff the laser sight

That'd be much better. Honestly I think the problem is just that the circular part of the sight is too small.

Getting back on-topic, I think it's kind of unproductive to give the Marksman's class a weapon that not only has a hip-firing assist mechanism, but also an ironsight that discourages frequent use.

Definitely make the iron sight better. SharpShooter should be using scope not hip fire, even with a laser.

Exactly. The thing about the laser is that it also encourages mid to close-range use as well, since the laser is difficult to see on Zeds from far away, especially on lower graphics settings. Another facet of the M14 that seems to discourage marksmanship.

The other time it s hard to see that laser is on Manor out in the open due to the sun. It becomes a completely useless add on, so the Iron sights are what you fall back on. And then you find that you've only got a very small spot to look through due to the ironsights being too large. The definiely need to be filed down a little, if not a lot.
