Sorry had to create a new thread cause I did not believe that soo many positive comments belonged in the "M-14 = disappointment" thread. I think I will move my previous 2 post in here. Any who just a quick recap. Think That the EBR is friggin sweet just not tier 3 quality. Now The Xbow is tier 3 quality. Except that... well... its a bow that penetrates all known materials. I suggest that the xbow be given tier 3 cost and EBR take the 2nd.

Now, along the lines of the Xbow. (Probably need to start this in the suggestion thread as well.) It was fun and maybe it still has a place but ultimately the tier 3 sharpshooter needs a big balanced rifle that has the penetration of the bow. My suggestion was and is the M-99 "_http://world.guns.ru/sniper/barrett_m99.jpg". single shot .50 BMG. and it realistically penetrates all but heavy armor.

So let me have it. pros/cons, thumbs up/down, discuss. Maybe we can work something out that can make everyone happy.

In Counter-Strike, do you see everyone walking around with the M249? I mean, it is the most expensive gun in the game. The two most popular guns are certainly not the most expensive, but they're not the easiest to use. The autosnipe is easiest to a new player.

The same can apply to KF. The M14 is definitely easier than the crossbow (I can never get sh** done with the latter) which is why it's more expensive; it's a reward. But pros can get more done with even more meager resources.

Besides, as you practice with the M14 it may become better. It only JUST came out.

If you've played CS, you know that the AWP is one of the most expensive games and too many people use it.

The firepower of the sniper rifle makes up for any lack of skill u have for the most part.

Indeed as people find out how to use the new weapons to their full capability they will be much more prized. However, I started this thread to contemplate a better BALANCE between the sharpshooter's guns.

I would say that the majority of the time the M14 is far superior to the crossbow, theres only two circumstances I can see where the xbow is better. At long distance vs scrakes/FPs so you have plenty of time to get those powerful headshots in and when there is a long line of specimens to take out in one shot (though that really depends as even 6 weaker specimens in a line = 1bolt or 6 M14 shots which is the same percentage of ammo 40 to 240 (i think))

I'm finding it hard to argue to find a balance between sharp shooter weapons. The sniper rifle just marries best of both worlds. It has more ammo than the lever action and xbow combined, has virtually no kick if you know how to control for it and have a high enough level.

If they do add a new tier... yeah it would have to be .50 rifle. But I hope if they do add it that the ammo is reduced.... ever see a .50 round? Those things are huge.....

agreed but should the Xbow really go through every speciman it comes into contact with? only thing I can think of that would come close to that is an ultra high velocity round such as a rail or a SABOT round from a tank..... Ultimately I think that it should be replaced with the M99. The M14 would sit "pretty" right in the middle of the lever and M99. Besides, tier 3 is supposed to be pretty ultimate right. Perhaps I am thinking too short term. Perhaps TWI will do another one of these awesome "updates" and take the game another step farther.

I'd say the lack of scope balances it out quite well, since half a ton of people seem to think the name SharpShooter means every one of their guns absolutely NEEDS a scope attached and they start whining louder when they don't get one. The scope is what makes players buy the Crossbow and it should remain that way I say.

With a more relevant comment, I'd say the AA12 is more out of place, since there are only about a dozen in existence and 6 of them have somehow ended up in London :p

Also, I think you can get wide headed bolts that can penetrate flesh quite easily. I'm no expert on the subject though.

sigh.... im not going for the uber realistic. just moderately. sorry, I should have mentioned that.
Again I feel the need to bring up wide-headed bolts, made to penetrate flesh. Crossbows can have a surprising amount of power behind them when they want to.

It should be noted that even a lowly Level 3 Sharpshooter can buy a Crossbow for $400 and pop Scrake heads in one bolt.

A Level 3 with the EBR not only requires a crapload of money to even buy the gun, but requires around 3/4 a clip to the head to down a Scrake! Crossbow is definitely still a gun to have!

oookk im no expert either but i own a cross bow (150lber) and dont think changing the bolt/arrow head type will enable it to penetrate 4 bodies/deer/zeds.

Even with a gigantic muzzle break you cannot shoulder fire a .50 BMG IRL.

The M14 EBR is easily the best weapon in the game. I just solo'd hard mode all the way up to the Patriarch with only the M14EBR. He killed me by sneaking up behind me with a chainblast when I had <50 life.

I can 4 headshot scrakes on hard mode, 5 headshot fleshpounds on hard mode, and kill everything else that crawls or moves. With a burst from ONE full magazine I can take down the Patriarch in hard mode. It is easily the most powerful weapon in the game IF you are a competent sharpshooter.

It offers the greatest mobility, the best ammo-to-power ratio, and the best accuracy.

Now shut up and stop complaining about it and develop some skill with it. It should take you around thirty seconds considering using it is a cake walk compared to the crossbow, the handcannon, the 9mm, or the lever action.

Really? Because I literally turned around in normal mode on solo to see a scrake about 5 feet away from me, popped 3 rounds into his head which promptly exploded, before he collapsed to the ground.

I didn't miss once. Maybe you just suck.

Yeah... 3/4 of a clip of the EBR... whopee.... you still have 230+ rounds to work with.... 40 bolts vs 240 high power bullets against a general infected horde, 240 wins while running no less.

EBR in the hands of a moderately skilled sharpshooter is super unfair.

It's true that shoulder firing a .50 would be next to impossible. But what else can you have above an EBR if you're looking to up the ante? Laser rifles?

Omg. I just realized what's above the EBR..... exploding crossbow bolts.... next update here we come.....

Exploding cross bow bolts wouldn't be sharpshooter.

Learn to headshot. Problem solved.

Sharpshooter has 50% additional dmg, 50% reduced reload, 75% reduced recoil, and 50% increased headshot damage. If you can't use that efficiently with a high power rifle with a high capacity mag, you're doing it wrong. No other perk comes close.

AGREE'D

As powerful as the Scar and M-14 are. Nothing is as broken and out of place as the AA12. I don't even need a full clip to down fleshpunds.

Clearly it is possible cause these guys are shoulder firing a .700 caliber rifle with NO shock/recoil absorbers..... albeit seems like they wouldnt want to shoot it 2ce
