TW if us Aussies pre-order the nerfed version now and the R rating goes through at a later date, will we be able to update or redownload the uncut version of the game? Or are we stuck with it forever more?

Keeping in mind our government officials are complete a*se hats and may take another year to make the decision on the R rating.

I'm waiting to pre-ordering at the moment, I was going to get a boxed copy from the UK but then I wouldn't be able to pre-load or get the deluxe edition, I'm just curious to know what the differences are between the low-violence version and the regular version, also I'd like to know if a patch will be released if/when the R18 rating comes through in Australia.

There is a way if you have someone you can trust from another country, you can get that person to buy the R18 Version as a steam gift and then gift it too you.

well thats is whats up for debate, because you still download it from your account, Valve can easily set it up so you download the Low violence anyways.

On the Germany section of the homepage it clearly states that gifting will give you the 'Rest of World' version.

But I still don't get the thing with the bloody IP's. If I buy it from UK will the game still be cut because I download it with a german IP?...

Could you make an official statement for the german version in german language as well, sas to link it more easily in our forum for the members that cannot read english very well? ;)

Or did I miss a switch language button on that website?

Also as an information, the USK has released german statements about their rating system, which might interest you.
http://www.usk.de/fileadmin/documents/2011-06-27_Leitkriterien_USK.pdf

Short summary would be that they have an issue with the visualization of bullet impact effects on human targets. See point 4.9 and 4.10 specifically. 4.9 is about the nature of bullet wound effects, while 4.10 details the points about the area in which the violence might occur, like in recognizable areas like playgrounds, schools, libraries, marketplaces....or unrecognizable areas like a war torn zone, batlefield, spaceship and so on. However they said realistic weaponry and environemnt, sounds etc. are also a cause for possible problems. But that doesn't seem to be a major issue

It was explicitly stated that if you buy a key with a non german IP, the key will be english. It depends on the key if your game will be uncut or not. If you buy it in a german shop or over steam with a german IP, the key you get will get you a cut game.

Ok so one more thing to clear up then, do i have to get it gifted from someone outside, or will it be ok if i buy a non-german box version (say from the UK) and get an uncut version.
I think the problem for most of us is, that we don't know if we will end up with a cut version in any case, due to us being in germany.

You'd really not buy the game based on it not having detachable limbs?

Come off it..

Nah you read me wrong. I don't want to buy a CENSORED game. I'm still buying HOS, just don't want to buy a censored version. It's not just about missing out on the gore. I'm in my late 20's and shouldn't be told what I can and can't see on my PC screen (within reason) by a bunch of stuffy old rich people...

Another Australian here keen to pre-order on Steam (first new game I've seen on Steam in forever that hasn't attempted massive price gouging) however I'll wait a few days until this rating malarkey is sorted out. I'm also happy to pay a steam premium to get it on day 1 as opposed to getting it imported like most new games due to ridiculous steam prices.

PS: Yes, TW might be sad if we don't buy the game because it is cut, but we will be sad if we can only get it cut.

It just hurts the overall feeling, special "Holy ****" moments for example and general immersion.
