Well the sad fact is that, there is no Low violence version on the Dead island steam page for australia! If that doesn't get low violence in which you slice up people (even if they are zombies) with a array of house hold items.

Call of duty World at War had gore, so why not this? It makes no sense what so ever.

I want the full atmospheric experience, if r18 is passed do we get a update. Because i can import this game for 28 dollars from the UK, but i rather download it right away for 35 then wait 4-12 days. And importing gets the correct version.

I want to know what is the low violence version differences and can tripwire add in a patch cd project style(how they removed drm) and just change it. The game is being sold in the US so again makes no sense.

THe most important thing we need to find out is what are the differences in the australian version. Sure if its just a lack of dismemberment i'll play the game and curse the day religion ever made it into australian politics. If however it results in a version like L4D2 where there wasn't a drop of blood and corpses hillariously faded into nothing instantly after death then I won't be buying the game. The cut on that game made it a joke in this modern day and age as it didn't bring the game down into a lower rating but turned it into preschool material.

I understand and respect that Tripwire has nothing to do with the individual in Aus politics who pushed his small minded views on the world, but i'm sure they are aware of how deeply the game is cut. I hope that they respect us enough to inform us as to what we will be buying. If we can have a brief outline as to what we are dealing with we can make an informed descision as to what to do next.

Can we please learn of the differences between the two version so australian consumers can make a informed descision as to whether to purchase or not?

Because as it stands all advertising material is made witht he full version therfore it is not an appropriate preview of the product I will receive.

i.e. will there be dissapearing bodies and bloodless deaths like the L4D2 aus version?

And I was just a couple of clicks away of pre-ordering when I noticed the low violence version noted.... and I had to move to Australia, lol.

Of course my Ostfront is just fine, as I purchased that in Canada, and thus, I still have that version available to me here in Aus.

I was disappointed when I got L4D2 two weeks ago and they nerfed it.

If I can have assurance that when the M18+ rating is passed in Australia, that Trip can supply a patch to fix the low violence version and not leave Aussies with their wangs flapping in the breeze.... I'll pre-order now.

Otherwise, I'll wait until the rating system is passed here before I pick up the game.

For those wondering why it's a big deal about gibs and gore being in the game or not..... the simple answer is that the game is supposed to be designed based around "Immersion" & "Realism"........ and if they nerf the game to the point where rubber ducks, bolts & springs pop out of characters, blood spatter turns into rainbow paint & pixi dust, and bodies fade away before they hit the ground..... you give one giant dent into that immersion & realism.

That and as others have said, we're adults and should be able to decide for ourselves what we're exposed to, just like tv shows & movies.

Now I know that's not Steam, Valve or Tripwire's fault, and I know it all swings depending on the government & what they do, but based on my current Visa for living here in Australia, I really don't have a say in anything, so all I can do is B*tch and moan

The odd thing is that I seem to see more violence, sex and nudity on TV here in Oz than I did back in Canada..... go figure.

We've put "LV" up for Australia because we haven't got the rating back yet - and dear old Oz has just announced the new higher rating category. We are HOPING that they will take the same view as PEGI/BBFC and NOT go all silly on us. However, until we're sure, we putting LV up to be safe. The Okkers may want to wait a few days and see what the end result is - but we'd hate for you to buy it and THEN find your ratings board can't cope with dismemberment (like USK...). "

Maybe theres hope

Well I get covering their bases just incase...

I swear that when I pre ordered it the "Low Violence" tag wasn't on it, oh well.

Not too peeved tbh, I got the uncut L4D2 game and really didn't like the game play, which is always better than looks imo, and I have no doubt I'll enjoy this game after loving Ostfront and Killing Floor.

Hopefully theres a way to get around a cut version like there was in Killing floor for the Germans.

I'm hoping anyways.... back when I bought L4D2 two weeks ago, that was also right around the time I heard they were getting the rating passed but were held up by one State or something, while the rest of the States approved the plan.... so I think as soon as the other States take that other State into the back room to break their kneecaps, this will get passed.

Solve the lack of violence with more violence I say :D jk.

Those asking for the game to be gifted for you, I recommend you to check out SourceOP.

If you throw them few extra bucks, they'll gift the game for you. You can even pay most of them with TF2 items. Try promising the TF2 hats for them

I cannot promise you anything. Red Orchestra Ostfront got cut even when my friend got it this way from US.

okay, this is good news, i am on the RO: HOS bandwagon despite not playing the first and i rather pay the extra 7 dollars over importing to play the game without waiting a extra 1-2 weeks importing. And plus Dead island has none of this low violence and if that is getting improved then the gore and dismemberment in RO HOS should be as well as is nothing to the amount Dead island has.

The violence is no worse than in Ost - this will get an MA15+ rating like most games. To be Refused Classification in this country (as we don't have an R18+ category yet) a game has to have extreme violence, which HoS does not. AvP was RC for a while due to its graphic dismemberment (heads being torn from bodies and wielded as trophies with spines still intact and other things along those lines) but even that was eventually classified MA15+ without being censored.

For the record, I boycott anything that gets censored in this country. I still don't even own Left 4 Dead 2.

Doesn't bother me. I turned off the gore in RO1 anyway, so it's nice to know my RO2 will also not have gore :)
