Lots of Servers N/A

Ever since the update a lot of the servers show all information except for ping which shows up as N/A and when I try to connect, nothing. I mean the screen goes black for a while, then it comes up with the usual connecting server ip etc but nothing ever happens. Why can't I connect to these servers? Does it have anything to do with the free weekend? Btw I saw other thread where a user described some similar connection problems and said it worked fine after he reinstalled. I did the same but no such luck.

I could be wrong but it might just be that the servers havent updated and therefore arent responding to your ip query

remove and add killingfloor to your firewall again.
at the top of this page is a sticky make sure that the master server is not blocked.

I tried removing and adding KF, no luck. I read this sticky and tried changing the "ServerBehindNAT" setting and I tried unchecking Dynamic Net Speed. I then read this sticky, visted the link and checked these ports 7707, 7708, 7717, 28852, 8075, 20560. It said they were not open or closed but they were stealth. I don't know what that means and I don't know how to open ports. Although I haven't tried this yet(which was very stupid of me),

You've had your game update but you still don't see servers or have connection issues?

Try going to your killingfloor/system folder and deleting the entire system folder and letting steam regenerate it from the new build. Some configuration settings might not have been reset which are keeping you from receiving changes in the update.

I think I'll try that right now.

I'm still seeing loads of servers N/A, and none with pings of under 50, despite the fact that I used to see them all the time.

I'm having this problem too. I do love the new update but it seems to have made the game very unstable for me. A lot of the time I fail to connect and I'm getting semi-frequent crashes too, this only started happening since the update.

Do you guys have filters on btw, with the free weekend there is a massive shortage of dedicated servers it seems. 19000 players are nearly playing it over the 3000 or so you usually see. So its quite likely that if you have filters on that simply all servers are actually full.

(When i started my 2 servers from my dedi, they were full before i could have joined myself).

Note: N/A servers are mostly servers hosted on people their own computers rather than dedis.

I tried deleting my System folder so Killing Floor could update correctly and have the right files but it wouldn't update. So I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I'm still seeing N/A servers and most of them are named "Killing Floor Server". Don't know if that matters. Anyways, I am now seeing more (low ping) servers. Apparently getting rid of the System folder did something.

so. heres how its gone down for me.

im playing the free weekend. i convince buddy to get into the game. he hosts a server on his machine. i cannot connect. we assume it is because he does not have the ports forwarded. i purchase the game, and he sets up a dedicated on another machine with ports forwarded correctly. other buddys can join that server without problem, however i still cannot.

this shows a couple things, this problem is not free play exclusive, nor is it related to the traffic volume due to the free weekend (dont see how it could be) half a day later, the problem still persits and i cannot join my friends in a game.

after doing this i finally was able to connect to his dedicated server! but ONLY for one map, after the map was over, it refused to load into the new map, and after returning to the browser, the same N/A problem was back. resetting the exception again has had no effect, and after i tried just turning off firewall, the problem just got worse, as it would no longer receive information on the server on refresh.

Is your friend that is hosting on windows 7 if he is make sure that in

control panel -> network and internet -> homegroup and here that he isnt in a homegroup (if he is click the leave option) windows 7 does some funky stuff.

the server is 2k3. its not anything to do with w7.

simply put, the server is not responding to my client, as i am sure it is the same problem everyone else is getting.

This Server N/A message only happens to my clan mates when I make server without a password...

Due too the free weekend a working server without a password will be full usually before they can get in and they will get the N/A message....

Have you tried making a server with a password?

Iv spent at least 3 hours so far, sat on the KF server page lookig for a game, an iv only played about 20 mins... Almost every server i can find has N/A instead of a number for ping, an when i try and connect, it just goes black and does nothing. As for the ones with ping, 95% of the time, i cant connect to them either, with constant "connection failed" messages before its even had chance to try.

I know theres another thread about this, but it answered nothing. everything they said, iv already tried, an it still isnt working. Iv got my firewall allowing everything to and from my computer for KF, iv tried changing ports on almost every page i can find, an still nothing. anyone know wtf is goin on?

yes, it was set up with a password. we also tried making vac and non vac secured, still did not make a difference

non-updated servers.

delete your system folder and verify to redownload it. this helps.

okay. well it helped me and several other people. you're one of the people it didn't help.

also this doesn't fix the N/A server problem.

those servers are running old versions of kf because the admins haven't updated them yet so you can't play them.

ok. so, that must have been the problem.... at least it was something to do with the dedi itself. others were able to play just fine, but the other night it crashed and they ended up having to tool around with it. ever since then, ive had no problems connecting too it and had a smashing good time all night exploding specimen heads with my friends.
