With all respect to You Ramm. I'd rather to see more informations about vehicles and new features for multiplayer than single player stuff. Is good to hear it, but SP will be a main gameplay mode for pirates anyway...and wont be apprieciated by reviews. BC2 and MW2 had terrible AI and bot spawn scripts in SP and they praised it so much.

i think this shouldnt anyone stop from making a great (sp)game, tbh. they don't design it for the gaming magazines, but for you.

YouTube - Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad - Gamescom 2009 Part 1/2

i watched it again. refer to all the "battle" moments, like 03:20-04:00. either you're playing on extreme beginner difficulty, or they weren't smart enough to shoot you, the enemy that was standing two feet away.

of course, yes, it's an alpha build. as always we'll just take your word on it that it's improved and will improve more.

AH, and a needed edit for something i just noticed: the video is not in multiplayer. it's single player. notice around 04:30 when he pauses the game and the player clearly stops moving

So whats with the "bot hate" :) I have seen a few messages where people are saying stuff like "the bots look stupid as usual". I'm not sure what you saw in the Gamescom shakeycam video that gave you that impression, but the bots are actually pretty darn good in ROHOS. Granted the Gamescom video was basically an alpha build, and there is a LOT more work that will be done on the AI before shipping.

I'll be the first person to admit the bots in RO:Ostfront were terrible - they were basically UT2k4 AI shoehorned to work for RO. But the AI in ROHOS has been written from scratch to be tactical shooter AI. They understand the tactical situation, can take cover, know if they have been flanked, will sometimes run away and hide when they are really injured, properly use iron sights, understand how to play the gametype, and more - all fully dynamic. The bots are so good, that often times in playtests we can't tell if we are fighting a human or an AI. By the time ROHOS ships, we should have some of the best AI you've seen in a tactical shooter. So please stop projecting the "bot hate" from RO:Ostfront onto ROHOS :)

To be honest I did kinda think that the AI in that alpha footage was pretty bad, but that's what alpha versions are for. The new AI sounds damn good. Can they crouch-run when they see an enemy or detect that they are under fire? I'm hoping the AI becomes as autonomous as possible, that they detect danger, get pinned down etc. Sometimes AI should refuse a player's order, for example when they spot an MG before the player does and move to cover instead of continuing to run into the direction the player ordered them to (unlike BiA, where they just continue running towards their death).

I'm sure you guys will do a good job. :)

For the demo the AI was set to uber-noob mode so that we could demonstrate the features of the game without getting our faces owned off. This will SUPER slow down the enemy AI's reaction time, which is probably what you are seeing.

ok, that's actually what i thought was the case. i just wanting to hear the confirmation. it's like you're looking at the faces of the bots and they seem to be saying "what is this idiot doing walking up to me? should i shoot him? i want to but.......well ok i have an mg" and pewpewpew you're dead. ACTUALLY i just watched 3:20ish again.....did that one bot actually try to bash the player?????

you know now that i've really gone back and looked at the videos more (been a while), aside from some little pathing issues here and there, the bots seem to move a lot more fluidly than ROOST bots. they seem to take the more strategic routes into the objective, and correct me if i'm wrong, but it looked like at one point i saw one bot either waiting for you (the player) to leave the spawn area, like it was covering you or something.

That is all well and good Ramm.... but can they make me coffee while I'm playing online multiplayer HOS? My gf wont... she wont even talk to me the next day when I stay up until 2 or 3am playing RO.... :(

Well it's good to hear things are not as bad as I thought regarding the AI. Btw I'm pretty sure most players agree that the correct way to make the AI easier is to reduce the damage they do, instead of making them move like headless chickens in slow-motion. They should act exactly the same on both Easy and Hard difficulty.

Any chance to get info about the SP? Is it just multiplayer maps in SP format(ala Rainbow6:Raven Shield) like said in the press release? Might want to clear this up cause I think many people are expecting atmospheric COD/Brothers in Arms experience.

...not in a realistic game.

Fighting soldiers in poor shape is much more reasonable than soldiers with airsoft guns

are you being sarcastic?

Let's say that the AI at the lowest possible difficulty setting already models the soldiers "in bad shape" and with all other realistic liabilities. So how can you make it even easier for the easiest possible difficulty setting? One way is to reduce the damage the player receives. And besides, it's an option, not some mandatory thing you have to use.

I'm not gonna play in easy anyway, but still, making you a bullet sponge like in any other stupid CoD game would be worse than horrible

I think you are definitely looking in the wrong direction there.
AI doing less damage? Dear god no.
I'd say the direction in which we should look lies in AI accuracy. Higher difficulty, better accuracy, and leave it at that.
