I'm currently in the process of creating a movie called War According to Video Games. The filming is finished and I've been editing for a while now. The film is a parody of first person shooters and was actually shot in first person (with the camera mounted to a bike helmet).
I would love to have an original score written for the film. Some pieces have already been contributed but I am currently without anyone working on it.

I'm hoping for the score to be a combination of orchestral and 8-bit, with influences from the likes of Call of Duty and Halo.

If you're interested, the preview in my signature will give you a general idea of the film's style (though unfortunately the preview is far more primitive than the full movie, being much older. The full movie features a plot and dialogue, including a contribution from Steve Blum)

Thanks!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I am more than willing to pay for the contribution

and here are samples of what we have so far

Always much respect for people doing something creative, so I support this.

Unfortunately I can't make music worth a damn :p but maybe others... also there is sure to be sites out there with CC-licensed music. If you're project is more on the not serious side, some chip-tunes would fit nicely.

Thank you both!

Shadrach- finding existing music would be the best route to take if things don't work out with my fellow humans.

hockeywarrior- Somewhere between 2 and 3 months is my best estimate. We'd be looking at about 7 minutes of music total. Perhaps I could send you some samples of the tracks I have so far?

PM it to me and I'll give it a look. No guarantees tho! Real life has me pretty busy and I'd have to learn a new format. That said, if I have time and am able to figure it out, I'd like to help.

PM me what you have! If nothing else, I can give my input on some stuff.

What style/genre are you after?

I could put some sound-scapey stuff together? But if you're looking for something with more energy I can write/supply some drum-and-bass or electro/triphop if that is more preferable?

Writing tunes for a war-game themes vid might be difficult, because people generally associated the imagery with more orchestral styles

The idea was to have a few styles, combined if possible but not necessarily.
I wasn't quite thinking techno with the 8-bit part, though the difference is agreeably small. The other parts would be an orchestra (synthesized I would hope with my budget haha). I was also thinking of a call of duty style electric guitar part or a halo-like chorus.

I think the best way to explain would be to email samples of what's been written so far. interested?
