Long pauses while testing a map?

Whenever I run my map from the editor, I get a long (10-20 second) pause where the game just stops responding when I click 'ready' to start the game and then at the beginning of each wave thereafter (when 00:01 seconds are on the clock).

If I start the game in solo mode and load the map manually, I get no pauses and everything runs normally.

Any idea why? Is this normal? It's that big of a deal, but I like to test often and it gets a little tiring having to wait all the time.

Look at your server logs. The SDK opens two windows when you start the game from it.
One windows is the game and the other is the server log.
Look at the error entries. They say everything.

Yeah this used to happen to me, then it stopped but i don't know what i did, think it may have been the texture compression not being DXT1. The map shouldn't pause after each wave out of the SDK though

Guess this was it. I added a randomitem pickup and nothing happened. Guess it either needs to be ammo or both.
