Hey all. My first time posting in these parts... regardless, I hosted my first listen servers just yesterday, so I'm a relative noob at this. Enabling UPNP works like a charm, happy to say.

My only question is, is there an easier way for people to join the server? I know there's Open IP, but when I gave mine to my friend, I think he said he was stuck in the connecting screen. But he managed to later join by scrolling down through the server list and finding my server... an all-caps inside joke. So am I doing the Open IP thing wrong?

It's not that big of an issue. A lot of people were able to join, everything was more or less lag-free, and I had loads of fun (for the next 3 hours :p).

So, just out of curiosity... Could a friends tab be added, or will that only work for dedicated servers?

Yeah I made a listen server last night and I had 2-3 pubs join and a friend.

If someone's on your Steam friends list all you gotta do is right click their name and click send invite. Also, if you have a chat box with your friend before you create the listen server it will send a message saying you're "playing killing floor" and "killing floor" will be a highlighted text you can click for server information and there's a little "join server" option on the bottom left of that game information screen.

Basically just use the Steam friends system and send your mates some invites.

To use Steam friends just press shift-tab simultaneously. To add a friend, select add friend. If you know his Steam name you can add that verbatim or you can add people you've previously played with.

Ahh. Thanks so much for the replies. I suggested using the Steam join-game option like we do for DoD and all that other fun stuff, but I think he told me that didn't work for whatever reason. I'll try sending him the invite next time, though. Thanks again.

Edit - Uh oh. So I tried doing just that, but either way, my friend gets a message saying "Server Not Responding". Any suggestions for this?
