how could you guys even think of not making linux dedicated server files?

do you remember serious sam 1 hd? no? maybe thats because the game died after about a week because ppl couldnt make linux dedicated servers.

We never know ....
Already what is worrying, they do not intend to do binaries linux for the moment.
And game such as Brink also builds upon the binaries as windows and no binaries linux.
Moreover, the game have been a failure too, we just hope that linux binaries will be present at the output of the game but it is not already present for the beta, just wish...

mayhaps they have to pay Epic a license fee to use the linux binaries...thats my guess anyway.

UT3 had linux servers(but no client), so i dont think theres any other good reasons not to add linux support for servers.

Hmm I came in here looking into reasons why the servers seemed to be so bad but I guess I got my answer, they are all running windows. It really boggles my mind that you would release a game like this and not have Linux server as an option. I can understand games like BF3 where they only rent out servers but this just cuts down potential servers with about 75% I would guess not to mention that Linux servers usually seems to be better performers in general.

This

With the Linux performance gains you'd probably be able to run a 64 players server with a CPU that's a notch or two lesser than the current recommended.

my group (bwhgaming.com) wont be hosting a ro2 server until they make linux bins, because that is our server operating system, and we REALLY dont feel like running a windows virtual machine just to host a single game.

I'm quite disappointed that linux support is only a possibility. Especially as Tripwire's previous support has been good.

As others have posted, there is no way I will be installing Windows on a server simply to run this one game. I'll have to let the gaming community I host for know that they won't be getting the server they were hoping for.
