Limit the amount of Snipers.

Does anyone else feel that it is unrealistic to have an unlimited amount of trained snipers ready for a battle? I am no history expert but the amount of times Snipers die in Red Orchestra doesn't seem to be very accurate. I may be wrong, but I feel like a max amount of Sniper deaths, such as 5 or something would add to the gameplay, forcing them to be more careful and to focus on more important targets rather than giving away their position shooting random riflemen.

What do you think?

It's been stated multiple times that the 'snipers' in RO are actually just sharpshooters, or in other words just regular infantry with scopes on their rifles who are somewhat better shots than a regular rifleman.

What I would like to see (and I acknowledge that it will more than likely never happen) is a system where there are never more than the maximum intended sniper rifles (or MG's) on the map at one time.

Or, to put it another way, no weapon drop upon death for those classes.
In other words, on maps that limit the sniper class to 2 snipers, there are never more than 2 sniper rifles to be had. No dropping your sniper for a teammate then respawning. That would do away with the TK's to get the player's weapon, too. (hey, thats an idea.....no weapon drop if its a TK)

The only problem I have with this, is that then you get some assclown who'd join the map, take the sniper, die once and then go AFK for the rest of the $^(#^%# round/map.

Substitute sniper rifle for MG/SL/AT as necessary.

Especially because not all servers have fulltime admins like they ought to, or are set up to kick AFK people automatically.

At least in this case, a TK/TW is halfway warranted because this one dude has either unwittingly (or intentionally) gimped his team.

Especially on maps like Odessa where a well-run German MG team can shut down the back half of the map, and having a competant sniper and good smoke cover can make all the difference in the world.

people who do that should be banned from RO for 5 days for every AFK round
