Hey I like playing for playing's sake. But after 300 hours of KF, with current balance issues, it does get old. And just because you're not vocal about it, doesn't mean you aren't looking at your stats occasionally to gauge simply how long you've been playing. The only downside to more perk is, gosh, how long am I going to have to play to get that?

Which makes me call BS on the whole "I just play for fun."

They should just remove the star tbh, just have the logo gold :)
I agree, if there's not a sixth star, there shouldn't be stars at all. Level 6 should transcend the stars.

Not a big deal though. The golden color gives the right in-your-face general appearance, so it's okay as is.

The balance issues are a problem obviously but if you were continueing to play purely because you could unlock lvl12 Sharpshooter then something is wrong.

And its likely to mean all you do is abuse said balance issues to get it as fast as possible.

If they put in perk levels 7-12+, they should just do nothing. Like, literally, nothing. You just get more stars and the new color at level 12, whatever.

Exactly, that's what I meant. Of course it wouldn't give any more advantages, just the symbol, something to strive for. I don't see anything wrong with giving a person incentive to keep playing and without any game advantages it wouldn't harm a rookies fragile ego. If they kept the exponential requirements for each level it would certainly take a long time to get there and level ups would be a significant personal moral boost when you finally get to each one.

I also think they should come up with some new achievements for the same reason.

I didn't mean to. For some reason they apparently went to moderated posts last night and I didn't see that they were being held... thought it just wasn't going through.

Thanks Jester, I didn't think it was that difficult to level up natually either, just took a lot of playing which is the name of the game anyway. Did 99% of it in multiplayer, single player is just boring to me.

That would be silly, since we don't even have a guarantee there will be a Level 7 perk. It's also besides the point. Who cares why someone plays, people don't play something that gives them no joy. Whether you play because you feel skillful, because you like watching stuff die or because you like watching numbers go up, it doesn't really matter. The whole perception of "fair" or "abuse" and all that jazz...I could care less. KF isn't a game that has ever made me feel concerned for the "ethics" of perking up. It's damn near farming anyway you slice it. So add more perk levels, **** it, and be grateful you haven't yet been stuck with the same game you bought a year ago.

One fraction of an iota that someone has a perk they didn't really work for, yes.

I've come to get more entertainment out of watching them die than getting angry that they cheesed they're way to the top. I've just become so bored standing in corners shooting stuff for 8 waves, it all seems like farming to me now. So who am I to fault them. One friend stuck a roll of Gorilla tape on his space bar, bound welding to space bar, left a single clot on a door, and went to bed.

That's how dull some of KF leveling can be, and how exploitable. You have to take pride in some pretty measly stuff to truly get up in arms about it.

The best way to keep players playing is by making the game enticing, not a persistent perk system with arbitrary requirements (kill a bajillion stalkers).

I don't mind the perk system at all, but for those of us who have been level 6 for a long time, tacking on another level wouldn't blow my skirt up, if you know what I mean.

No, I get you. It's got to come with something else, and KF has already hit the threshold pretty much on passive bonuses. Even weapons are a questionable perk, because we're already at the threshold of too easy.

I've got faith that if they bump the perk level, they'll make it worth it though. And there's no real way to account for people that have pumped hundreds of hours into KF; they're just going to have to live with not working for the newest stuff.

Or they could just give meh some KF2.
