Layer issue

When I try to paint my layers I always get these little squares

anyone able to tell me why? Is it something really obvious that I missed? I searched but didn't find anything unless my search keywords suck.

Your texture layers have different sizes, maybe you type for one 512x512 and for the other 256x256. They have to be all the same size.

And I remember a thread were someone had the same problem

well I've made the layers the same sizes, and I'm still getting the problem (just with different sized squared depending on the layer's size

Check the layer image's width and height properties. Any different size values?
