Last CPU optimization really hit the spot, but there's still one thing...

With the last update I can play on 64 player servers no problem. Runs just like if there were 5 people on it. Awesome stuff and awesome work.

There's still one nagging performance issue that I want to point out again, just to be sure TWI know: firing high ROF weapons stutters the game because of the sound being processed on the CPU.

This game runs great now, but still, every time I fire a burst from the MG-34 or the PPSh, the game skips around and completely ruins my aim and awareness while shooting.

If you can fix this I will love you guys. And then permanently lower the price to $20 and have a free weekend in Jan or Feb so I have more west coast people to play with :D

It doesnt stutter for me but the sound gets bad especially with the mkb and I guess it doesnt stutter because the graphics have priority over the sound which gets bad then.
I hope that makes sense.

Theres only one solution throw the mkb out of the game. :D

Doesn't work that way: people just perceive the game as being cheap and of low-quality.

Charge $35 as the regular price and you can drop it to $20 at regular intervals and have a new glut of purchasers every time.

Yes, a reworking of the sound engine would be good. Lots of work involved, but they managed to improve the CPU handling no end, so there's hope.

I've been running with high details and getting reasonable performance (40+), but I'm quite tempted to drop to medium and see what that does for me. Although the game looks gorgeous on high, it would be nice to have 60+ fps most of the time :)

To soundchannel 128 doesn`t work. The game hasn`t more than 32.

But which soundcard do you have?

Setting sound to low, helps that maybe?

I got also stutters by sound but it keeps playable.

Any evidence for that is purely anecdotal.

Soundcard is irrelevant. The game doesn't use your soundcard or onboard sound. It's processed purely by the CPU.

There will always be those that think the game is cheap or lower quality just because it doesn't come from a large major studio or it doesn't have super quality high contrast graphics.

And there could just as easily be as many or more people who think "hey, this is only $20 and it looks fun; I'm going to buy it."

True and I am glad I took that chance with ROOST. Unfortunately I have heard it said by others I know and others I have seen in actual stores that if its cheap (I'm not really talking sale pricing) that it must not be that good.

Soundcard is relavant.

There are problems with onbord soundcards. I dont know the name of it now.

I do have a creative xtreme with a 3rd party driver.

I do remember that someone on this forum have also this card but he
got much stutters. I gave him the 3rd party sounddriver and the problems he had were gone. Yah okay okay some stutters as i do have.

Yes i know it is strange but it works.

Sadly, this is true - and I've known people like that too. Still, it could just be that they aren't the kind of players RO2 needs anyway - if they lack simple logic, they're probably better sticking to DM, TDM and the more simplistic modes that most AAA games offer :) Even though I might get my arse kicked, I find playing RO2 against skilled players is absolutely the best way to enjoy it - raw, unforgiving, and "rapidly educational" :)

For the first time last night, I had two major shifts in my RO2 career. Firstly, I actually played well during Countdown matches - I was cautious, scored some good kills, and even manage to get rid of my usual Territory thinking by managing to complete a cap as the last player standing, instead of wandering around like an idiot waiting for the enemy :) Secondly, I enjoyed the hell out of that Countdown match round after round against skilled players, and we were playing 5v5 - a situation that exposes shortcomings pretty quickly, and a situation I would normally avoid for that very reason - I'm no pro :)

This was thanks to the PARA guys (we were playing on their CD server), and some non-PARA players with nicely non-stacked sides. They were fantastic games, and finally I got to experience CD as it was intended to be - tense, difficult, but so damn rewarding :) If any of the PARA guys, moog, or anyone else who was on PARA CD last night reads this - cheers for the games guys, you finally convinced this noob to try and play CD more often and improve his game! :D

Yep dazman. Now take that play mentality and bring it to TE and try and live for the entire round on a map like Red October factory.

I think the best I've done so far is about 2 or 3 lives for the whole round by moving slow, checking all corners, etc. Also worth noting that that playstyle is often very points rewarding, sure you move a wee bit slower, but you get more kills and caps then you might if you were going gung ho and eating lots of bullets.
