Great news on the patch + stats reset. I, for one, will be sad when the bricks vanish on Red October factory, if they go. ;)

I wonder what they will do about the stats...Will they be able to roll back people who got random stat boosts? How will they differentiate between what are legit stats and bugged stats?

---
No matter what stats you have or they are legit or not - theyll be all wiped out.

There is only so many alterations in code they can do before its just better to build a new engine.

Adjusting game code (I assume you mean scripting?) and re-writing an entirely new engine, are two COMPLETELY different things, and I assure you the former is ALWAYS the easiest option.

Unless say the engine has some weird issue, like pointer to pointer arrays not being assigned correctly to their "child" arrays, like in my engine :'(.

I read the first page & this one, and just to jump in, I see a lot of people asking for the stats to be reset, while having the possibility of P'ing a lot of people off..... annnnd doing nothing would P everybody else off.

Simplest Solution:

Just add (either in the game menu or Steam) a button for individual players to determine for themselves if they want their stats reset.... at any given time.

You will have people who will want to earn things on their own, others who actually had the stats work properly get to keep their stats, people who don't care one way or another get to choose whatever, and the odd player who thinks they have any real advantage get to keep their stats.

This would also please those who would complain they were being ripped off some how if they lost their stats.

Beyond that, the problem is solved.

Anybody who continues to argue about others & what they do with their stats... need to focus more on their own game. Unless someone is hacking, tk'ing, pirating or being a troll, what they do with their own copy of the game is their own bussiness & Tripwire's/Steam's.

Besides, I imagine there will be some who don't want stats & disable or reset the stats all the time.

Praxius, that would kill the point of the stats system. There would be no way to know if someone has achieved their stats/hero rank as heroes and hlvl 80+ would be swarming in every game. Even if you'd work hard for those fancy weapon upgrades and hero status, no one would believe you if you had the option to have honor level 85 in a few hours, simply by not pressing the "reset button"

The best option IMO is to reset everything. NO MERCY!

Whiners will whine for a while but they'll settle.

I just played a countdown match on Pavlo's House on beta server. Because I got rusty and died early, I just flew around the map to take a look and...

Bricks. Bricks EVERYWHERE.

It almost looks like Tripwire wanted to troll us by overloading the map with bricks this time around :D

Downloaded the beta and had a bit of a go on it while running programs to monitor CPU/GPU usage and i'm wondering something.

Does this beta patch actully have the performance improvements in it? i ask because after running the same test i did back at release (cpu/gpu average usage over a set time) i see no diffence in how my hardware is being used. If it does include the fixes and they aren't based around how the CPU's are used, is there (or are there currently) plans to make the game make better use of quad core CPU's?, the requirements now state a 2.6ghz quad is recommended BUT this game on average uses just over 50% total cpu usage on my 3.9ghz quad and for the most part 2 cores are hardly ever used (which in turn limits the GPU usage).

I sorely want to love this game but due to performance i just can't.

@Tripwire
Please don't do the reset with the patch, wait for feedback from the community.
Just to be absolutly sure, that the problem is fixed.
its already too broken to tell if it works ,i even have negative stats on lots of crap

Ya i've had negative stats before too. But TWI announced the stats will be reset and double exp for a limited time to make up for people who'd put a lot of work into their characters. Also a customer achievment In B4 Reset for people playing before this rollback and apparently further goodies for the people playing before the rollback too. It's been a long time coming but i'm not fussed this is still an awesome game.

realistic destruction shouldnt be extremly hard to implement ..
its already supported in the unreal 3 engine(as seen in gow tech demo) ..but maybe locks out ppl with 2009 computers from playing the game .. who cares. lol. let me blow things up. .. I wanna see buildings slowly turning into rubble from heavy arty.. bits and chunks of walls coming off from nades and mg fire.. etc but some things need to be only partitially destructable, or it will create extreme balance issues.. lol .. but war isnt fair. and never will be.

Looks like you have to wait till a engine like this will feature it i nreal time and you are maybe looking at the wrong game. Right now there is NO Engine that can really feature that level of destruction detail in real time.

If you also read or watched some interviews with TW you will see that they dont think that destructible enviroment is the new holy grail of fps.

Same on comissar's house (except in the very beginning). Useless bricks all over the place.
