agreed. it wont take long for people to level them up again anyways.

So why role them back?

Hopefully this update brings a lot of people back to the game. The battlefield beta ends soon as well.

Great work guys, I was expecting an update but nothing this big, I was extremely surprised and happy when I read about the performance issues. Then even further you mention fixing some aspects of the SDK which is even more damn awesome. Thanks and much appreciated.

Also if one of you could explain something...how are the stats and achievements exactly "fixed"? like will it remove/fix stats and achievements based on what you have actually earned or will it reset everything? I know RO isn't about the achievements or stats and that not playing the game because of stats bugged is exaggerating but for example I got Marksmen Gold by legitimately shooting a tank commander out of his hatch in the head at 251 M half way across Fallen Fighters. So I'm just wondering how this works....

If someone could explain this it will be much appreciated and again thanks for the updates and support.

Never mind, I see there is an achievement that is called "In B4 reset" so I guess that answers my question.

Needs to be put in Announcements. Just saying.

+1. I know they're busy but information isn't being given out in a routine and public fashion. A post like this in News & Announcements would mean a lot to everyone I think. Especially phrases like "I know you haven't heard much from us...."

In B4 Reset

Lol. Say what you will about TWI, they have a sense of humor and a conscience.

True but we're obviously forum junkies. And if there's anything that could be done to cut back on the amount of thread spam and negativity here....that might be one. Showing some attention for the forum crowd in the form of regular posts to the News and Announcements can't hurt.

The OGG has news routinely and is quite public. If you join it, news pops up when it's made available...so you don't have to search for it.
All I'm saying is that a big update coming is a pretty big bit of news, and I think it should be posted in the Announcements section as well -- that's all. Seems like pretty big news to me, especially for people on the forums. What's the harm in providing one more place for people to read the news?

Personally, I miss all sorts of RO2 news when its only posted on Steam and not here.

Any word on whether or not we'll be able to fire our guns when we press fire? It's been a bug since day one.

Regardless, good work on getting this far. Hopefully very little is left to fix in a month.

Looks like this is the patch that will make me pick up the game again.

Can't wait for it. :D

Hopefully they realise that half of the game is aready played for most people if a reset is not in place. Being competetive towards the new BF3 game, its vital for people to have some goals to achive in this game.

Therefore a reset is mandatory!

I'm not disagreeing with you. But I am not at liberty to make such announcements.

Please, this is not a troll, but a request for information: I'd really like to know when the short range hit detection is going to be addressed. I usually stick with rifles, and with at least half the combat taking place in buildings, the fact that an aimed rifle shot at a stationary target in the same room fails to register more often than it does register is really getting to be a game breaker for me.

Get me a reproduction case. Every time I try to set this up in office I can't produce these results.

One thing at a time buddy. For all we know performance optimizations can have a direct impact on hit detection.

Have two guys, one with an SMG and one with a semi automatic rifle, try to find each other in the rooms off the first floor main corridor of Barracks. Examine what actually happens and the results of what both people saw when they turn corners on each and fire. What we as players experience is that the player with the semi-automatic will not get their first couple shots registered, or that they are downgraded to minor wounds at best, even though they're going into center mass. The same thing might be happening to the SMG user but its harder to tell because of the volume of bullets fired.

This might be due to latency and why it may not re-produce on a single server with just two players. If you want to test map lag in the equation, try playing inside the buildings in Station doing the same routine, because that's the map I suffer the greatest problems with FPS in.

Is it an online game or a LAN game? I suspect lag may have something to do with it. I have seen this occasionally myself ( I am almost always a boltie), missing at 5 feet while ADS middle of the body. Lately, I don't even try to shoot, I just run forward a bit and stab. It doesn't happen every time, but I have missed people with their backs to me with two shots, only to get nailed in return via SMG.

I wish I used fraps, I could get you several every game I play. Some examples that have happened to me in the past few days:

1. Commissar's House (this one happened just an hour or two ago). A Russian runs out of the building to the concrete wall facing the German's initial spawn. He stops at the wall. Coming from the German spawn, I come around the right side of the wall, parallel to him (I estimate about 10-12m away from him), and about a second after he gets to the wall, raise my rifle at fire at his torso. I got him, but it took 3 shots for one to finally register.

2. On Zab's House, you're a German with a G41, on a top stairwell landing of the corner ruins. A Russian runs up the stairs (flight just below you to your left). You start raining shots at him. None hit. Now he turns the corner and comes up the flight of stairs you're on, coming directly at you. You get off a shot to his torso, and it misses. If you can get off 1 or 2 more, you may get him.

I have also noticed that many, many times, if an enemy is coming directly at you, and you aim at his chest, it takes several shots for one to register, and often none do, and he bayonets you. This would start at perhaps 50 or 60 feet until he gets to you. Now, if this were a lag problem, and you're firing at his chest, I would think you'd at least hit him in the throat or face and, again, it very often happens when you walk into a room and a guy is there, stationary, and doesn't notice you. I've walked into rooms into that very scenario, fired 3 shots into a guy's chest from about 10-15 feet away while he wasn't paying attention, nothing hits, then he realizes what's happening and kills you.

P.S. The odd thing is, I have noticed absolutely nothing wrong with hit detection from 100m on out. It is fairly easy to hit someone's head sticking out of a window from 125m, and I've always hit when I knew I was spot on and had the sight adjusted to 200m. It's only at ranges only the world's worst shot can miss at that this seems to happen.
