Even though m14 deals more damage than the LAR, i find scrakes easier to take out with lar than with m14...

I always saw M14 as a better LAR.
It comes to personal preference I guess, LAR has simple sights while M14 sights take some getting used to but offer more utility while lining up shots by strafing.
So while M14 is a bit harder to shoot with makes up for it with all the little extras like more ammo and rate of fire.
However LAR is simply cooler with the lever action animation. Thus rule of cool dictates using LAR over M14.

I'm all Perk 6's and before the Christmas stuff had every achievement except two. Kill 100 FPs with AA12, and 25 Headshots with the m14.
That should tell you what I think of the m14

You mean LAR does more damage than M14. LAR has a 2x headshot multiplier with the base damage, in addition to what you get with sharpshooter.
Use both . Switch according to your target and situation. Don't forget about your 9mm. If you want to build real skill as a SS, use the m14. Why you say? Because it sucks balls. The m14 punishes body shots by not killing your intended target. With the M14's craptacular gun sights, you will be punished. The problem I am seeing with using the M14 like this is that people tend to take the ammo for granted and "body shot" in place of taking their time and aiming for the head. They all end up paying for it in the end.
It is funny to watch people get rushed by a scrake when they have an M14 they cannot spam in the face of huge ZEDs.
The key to any SS weapon is taking time and aiming, So i am going to have to go with LAR. <3 LAR

Lever action is my personal favorite. Once you get the hang of it, continious headshots from the hip are easy. And will kill or stun almost all zeds as any class. And it's dirt cheap. My personal opinion, is, if you want to go rifling as a SS, then carry both. I always run out of LAR ammo anyways.

The M14 is good against trashzeds, husks and FPs, because it is still a fast rifle and it is easy to aim with the red dot and the headshot damage is very good.
The downside is the low body damage and people should really not spam this gun, otherwise they will run out of ammo quickly.
The LAR is great for stunning scrakes and compared to the M14 it can instant kill crawlies even without a headshot.
It feels also better when shooting at long distances.
Downside is the low ammo count of 80 rounds. It is far to low to use it as a main weapon.
So by using different guns for different enemies this weapon combo is pure win for a SS

This is exactly the realization I came to while playing as SS tonight. The crossbow just can't be relied on like the m14 can (espcially since the upped the head shot multiplier on it) when a raging fleshpound/scrake is coming at you. The crossbow is really just weapon for the medic to carry now imo.
Yea but Captian Wiggins looks cooler if he had a LAR..Looks more british if you ask meh.
Try to take your time and aim slowly in HoE or Suicidal. You will be dead faster than you can yell "gormless tossa".
They key is to aim fast and accurate. Efficiency is the key, not being an ol' grandma. My granny shoots better than you! JK
i'm trying to figure out which of the 2 i prefer as a backup weapon to the katana for the mobile berzerka - i'm not saying either is necessarily the best overall but that's why i'm comparing them at the moment.
