First off this is my rig.

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor 3,20 Ghz
Corsair vengeance 16GB DDR3 ram
Not sure bout harddrive other than its a 10k rpm.
Ati Radeon 5800 series 1GB GDDR5 (Core clock 875Mhz) (Memory Clock 1225)
Corsair 800W power supply.

Ive been running games like crysis2, Deus Ex, well every new game for the past 6 months really all of them on high settings and ive never had "Fps" issues
ive had the pleasure of getting to play RO2 on the beta since ive preordered.
But as of now i have so bad "FPS" lag that i can barely aim my rifle without freezing images. Im concerned wether its my rig or the client.
Since all the people ive asked ingame are sitting about 100Fps mark
were mine is a measely 10-15.
Ive tried throwing down the graphics only to the lowest only to get a steady 20 fps but i can barely tell the difference from friends and foes at that resolution.

Is this a common problem, or do i really need to start spending money in order to play RO2 D:

i really hope i wont have this problem on live D: jikes!

You're not alone!!! I have similar specs. And my FPS bounces from 30 to 70 all of the time. Since it's a beta, it isn't as optimized. But don't worry, TWI is looking into the problem. Just hold tight!

I dropped shadow and now ive got close to a steady 60 fps in ultra, only shadows off really. i sure hope it gets alittle optimized for live. ive really been looking forward for this game

Having constant crashes in RO2 atm =\
Maybe the problem lies in Amd drivers?

I am having similiar problems as well.
Apartments and Fallen Fighters run 100% flawless on high settings.
But on the 3 new maps (No matter what settings) my lag is atrocious. I did the "Stat FPS" in the console, And it shows up as 59 fps but i'm not sure thats correct as it's basically unplayable. I updated drivers etc... with no results. Don't know if it's my rig or what. Just going to keep working on it and see if I can find the cause of it.

64 bit Quad-Core Processor (2.8GHz)
Memory 4GB (2GB x 2) DDR3 1333
Graphics: Radeon HD 6770

This is awful with the new maps.

Artillery anywhere on the map stops my FPS dead.

It's especially noticable on Grain elevator and the october factory. Sometimes just trying to look around or turning a corner sometimes dips my fps into the low 20's.

It's a shame. Performance needs fixing, otherwise we can forget the awesome large custom maps, if high end system struggle with something like grain elevator.

I think alot of people have been suffering with this, but only recently for me.

Was playing on high / ultra when beta first come out, now I am struggling to play on High.

Win 7 Ultimate 64
AMD Phenom II x 4 @ 3.4 GHZ
6GB 1022 DDR2
GTX 460 1024MB
1000W Power Supply

Machine has also been freshly rebuilt for the beta and has all the latest drivers!

Isn't there the possibility of some of the lag being caused by overstressed servers running too high a player count?

Could well be. Specially if those servers are not dedicated to run just one instance/game.

And yes.

I think that's part of it but not all of it. I am experiencing similar problems to the above posters since the update and the new maps.

I have a Phenom II x3 720, HD6870, 4 gigs pc1333 and Win7-64. On the previous maps I was running on medium settings and had the game pegged at 60-66 fps all the time, and butter smooth. It didn't matter what map or how many players.

Now, with the new maps, I range from low 20's to maybe 45-50. I've tried different settings and larger vs smaller servers. Smaller servers do help some, but the lag is still really bad and does tend to get me killed. I'm not sure what's up with these maps, but it seems to me like a combination of server-side & client side resources getting stretched too thin.
