I vote "Tank." Why?

1. The FP would be calm at first, giving the tank a chance to send it flying.

2. The tank has a greater physical strength. When was the last time you've seen a FP effortlessly send a car flying with one swing of the fist? When was the last time you saw it rip the earth a new one (litterally) and toss said earth?

3. The tank is smart enough to toss objects at it's targets. Sure, the FP has it's arms to block, but there's still the fact that tank is tossing said object to send it flying at breakneck speeds; even if the FP had it's arms out, it would still be sent flying by whatever the tank was throwing at it.

4. Last, and most importantly, the FP can't see. If you look at the FP closely, you'll notice it's eyes are covered by a metal plate. That means that the FP hunts by sound and/or smell when it does attack. The tank has eyes, giving it a huge advantage over the FP. The tank can toss a bus at the FP before the FP even knows what hit it. Why? Because it (litterally) did see it coming. This is further exacerbated when you factor in that the tank is sensitive to sound due to being an infected and that the FP is very noisy what with it's screaming and meat grinders you call "arms." This means that the tank would have an easier time finding the FP than the other way around. Sure, the FP can also find the tank using its sense of smell or hearing (or whatever it uses to hunt), but the tank is more prepared since his senses are superior.

What does this all mean? It means that the tank not only gets in the first hit and sends the FP flying, but it also can strike it from a distance and, if it gets close, hit it with a swing of the fist. When a FP is raging, it tends to take the most direct route to it's target, giving the tank to toss a couple of rocks or vehicles at the FP and weaken before it reaches it. The speed and force the vehicles are tossed at will undoubtedly slow the fp down and, if the tank is lucky, stagger it, allowing the tank a chance to smack it around before the FP can recover and react.

Flesh Pounds are actually a lot smarter then their description implies at the last sentence. Their only malfunction is the rage episodes they have (and someone brilliant decided to cram an adrenaline pump in them).

I would have to say that the Fleshpounder would win if enraged, or else, a few hits from the tank will surely know the living daylights out of the fp.

I got a sick feeling a Tank is a Fleshpound with Gorefast's head and Johny Bravo's legs... or maybe Scrake's pants?

Anyways, I think Tank would win, he probably trains on Fleshpounds before he goes hunting for survivors ;)

I bet you Tripwire is chortling over this thread, but keeping their own comments silent because they can always program an enemy so much more powerful than the Tank in a heartbeat.

Scrake doesn't wear pants, he wears trousers.

And Valve couldn't? o_O

Hmm Tanks me thinks.

A lot of people are saying that the fleshy has the advantage due to titanium reinforcement, or that it can hit harder..

I don't think so.

A tank with a swipe of its arms sends a vehicle flying a football fields length. It wouldn't have any trouble knocking a fp flying.

Furthermore, the kinetic energy behind that toss alone would be enough some crippling effects on an FP before he is even within range.

The same things can be said of cars, trees, or blocks of concrete that he is able to break off and chuck will surprising accuracy on moderately fast moving targets. The FP is a slowly walking duck.

Going by the tank entrance in l4d, steel and concrete are no barriers to this thing, and simply grappling them become as malleable as tin foil is to us.

Couple that with tank is always running fast, and has slightly more unpredictable pathing than a FP, who will only range once he is in close.

Next, the rage effects. FP has to be raged, and most likely will after the first hit. But if he is maimed on the first hit, he will just be upset as the tank is mauling the rest of his body to pieces.

The tank's rage is a little different in that it is blinded by it. Being set on fire does nothing to quell it. It wouldn't have any problem punching the FP straight in the arm.

Once that punch hits, again, inertia takes over and the kinetic energy from the punch will send the fp reeling. Obviously it has weaknesses as it dies to bullets, so titanium won't help for long.

Lastly, if you even went full melee, and didn't count range attacks there are a couple ways it could play out.

The one and only is that the tank gets to aggressive and moves in and the FP is either raged or catches it offguard and proceeds to slam its revolving spikes into its midriff and rip it in half. However, I am not sure that would stop the tank from smacking it and killing it in the process.

However, far more likely, the tanks arms are easily is bodylength, nearly doubling the height over its overhead two-handed smach downwards which would all but explode a fleshies head, but it is easily double the length of reach that a fleshpound has with its arms.
