Anyone else noticing lots of nearly impossible hits and kills in this game or am I just the worst covering, worst moving player in the whole community?

people die alot, you cant always tell where bullet comes from, you probaly dodge alot of bullets and just notice the ones that kill you, and the bullet pen will make some shots seem crazy

The problem I have right now is the bullets don't make enough or any sound. I have been in a few situations where I hear a gun being fired but only realize its being fired at me when i see the bullet impacts around me.

A bullet crack is needed.

^ There have been reports that the sound drops inconsistently since the last patch. I haven't noticed it yet while playing, but maybe this is the case with you? I could be wrong though...

I have a very low end realtek onboard sound chip and crappy stereo headphones, and since beta I have had the same issue. It's like sound distances are all wrong. If I'm very far away from a MG or rifle shooting at me, so that I can't hear the gun itself, all I hear is a very quiet snapping sound. It's the right sort of sound but much too quiet. It should be deafening. There should be no mistaking that a bunch of high velocity bullets just passed by, suppression effect or no suppression effect.

Actually, come to think of it, I'm not even sure that when I've heard the cracks like that if I have even been shot at. Maybe I'm hearing the bullets being shot at someone else.

When the bullet hits me though, the opposite happens. I hear the gunshot as if it was right beside me or even as if I had fired it. No bullet crack at all, just the sound of the gun itself firing a bullet, and it sounds danger close even if it's 200m away.

It really throws me off at times. Most of the time I hear nothing at all except a distant gunshot when someone is shooting at me and missing. Or I might hear distant gunshots as if someone right beside me was shooting at me.

I'm getting used to using the sound as a rough guide, but not relying on it.

I used to hear bullets that were being fired at me, hear them a lot less now since the sound issues started impacting my game. :(

I hear the bullet-wizzes now that I've learned how to hear'em  they are just less noisy and in the beginning I was not recognizing someone actually shoots at me. Thats not ideal and needs fixing in volume imo.

But example from yesterday: On RO-Factory, I was covering right flank with axis and had a quiet good spot taking down 4-5 russians in a row(yeah I know most of you wouldn't call this remarkable) at aprox. 80 m when suddenly an enemy strafed easily out of cover to snipe-burst me with his ppsh. That's sidestepping upright and killing me immediatly.

He knew I was lying there aiming in that direction and however he just stepped in front of me and did it. And in this example for once I could actually see the enemy that kills me. In most cases I don't and even sitting in the darkest corner of any building or taking large distances to flank around known enemy positions I end up being killed from anywhere.

Another thing is close combat: Often times in CC I shoot an enemy and KNOW I've hit him because his just so close he fills up my whole screen - and nothing happens. But when he shoots at me, I'm dead.

Now I've read about that hit detection issues but how come they only seem to appear to certain players then?

I also know I'm not the best RO-Player on earth and will never be, that's ok, but being the worst player and this because of the above examples, is nearly impossible.

I know that this thread about kills, how about non kills? :p

Yesterday I stabbed a guy with bayo in the chest-he survived.
Step two I shot him with Mosin to the chest-guy was like huh?
Step three, he turns back and kills me...
He didn't even bleed out. That was full size caps lock WTF !?
And it was on realism server....

What is "impossible hit and kill"?

On my first day I died a lot not knowing what killed me. Now I am able to kill targets from 200 meters (unmobile, mind you) and with machinegun even up to 250 meters. I crawled once and saw an enemy sniper - killed him from about 10 meters, but he couldn't know that. Sometimes I aim at something I suspect to be the enemy and sometimes I am right, sometimes I am not. From my experience most kills is done around 1XX meters, some around 2XX. Very rare kills are 3XX and I think these are coming from snipers with scopes on their rifles.

It's not that hard to kill someone even on distance longer than 50, 100 meters, but you need to spot him first, aim and then shoot. It's not uncommon for me to be killed a couple of second after I stick my head to scan the area. Probably more enemies scanning and spotting me before I manage to spot them. My advice is to avoid places where you see guns laying around - something killed their owners. Scan area very briefly and change spots a lot, because when you scan from the same place long enough someone can notice that and aim where your head had been a couple of seconds ago, then you get instant kill.

Part of the problem is that 1st & 3rd person animations still do not match up. As a result bullets still come out the top of a player's head like in Ostfront. So while you may only see a tiny sliver of helmet they are able to shoot you even though thier weapon is behind cover.

Also, I have noticed in RO2 that hitboxes tend to lag. I will run around a corner or duck behind impenetrable cover and a second later be hit by somebody who no longer has LOS on me.

I agree with you completely there.

It feels like there is to much 'bass' in the sound in general. If someone shot at me from 50m away It's hard to decide from which direction they're shooting from and/or how far away they are. They could be 20m away or 200m away.

This, along with the fact that the bullet impact is away to low, makes it impossible to know if someone's shoting at you, from which direction, how far away, and so on. I'd like a CLEAR crisp sound when the bullets strike in the ground so you notice that you're under fire.
