Is this really worth a post? Tripwire has done both closed and open beta for Ost in the past (both pre and post launch). I'm sure if the need arises, a beta will be done.

Of course its worth a post, its shows that Tripwire are concerned about what their customers want, and are eager include those same customers in the further development of the KillingFloor franchise.
Lets hope they feel same about Heroes of Stalingrad.
ps: if the Tripwire senior programmer feels its worth posting, then it must be worth posting, or perhaps we all have to ask your permission before we post anything on this forum, or the KillingFloor forum.

Just saying that there won't be a beta if there is no need for one. You don't use a beta as a demo (which is pretty much how Microsoft has used their preview builds). They are designed for specific testing and feedback of a system on a wide range of computer hardware rather than the limited systems available at Tripwire HQ and available to its core test team. And if the need arises Tripwire will do one (like it has in the past). I see from the other post that you didn't know we had done these before.

Just remember that hoping/begging/wanting/demanding/pleading/wishing for a beta won't make one happen (note: not saying your post is any of the above). They are not a "preview" program. That is what demos/free weekends/guest passes are for. The RO:Ost beta available before launch was limited to 500 people and consisted of one map with limited weapons. It was designed to make sure users could connect and play and servers were stable.

And my apologies if the wording of my original post came off as heavy handed. I just felt it was a non issue (due to Tripwire running betas when it feels a need for them being more common knowledge).

Tripwire's ongoing excellent customer support, has once again been brought to the fore by their beta announcement.
These days it seems that most of the big players in the gaming world are providing little or no support for some of their games, so it is reassuring that once again Tripwire have listened to their customers and come up with a possible solution.
We should all be applauding that fact, without being sidetracked about whether they will, or won't, release a HoS open beta/demo.
That was just wishfull thinking on my part.
