Disregard his crazy advice. Follow my 4-step winning method:

Step 1: Buy Katana
Step 2: Go off alone
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit!

A bit too many new players trying out hard instead of going for beginner or normal difficult setting first. First waves have only lesser zombies. Even on hard you should be fine to solo the first two-three waves using nothing but a knife and your 9mm (hell - as sharpshooter i score most my kills using 9mm even at later waves. It is a really good weapon). If you can't - then maybe you should consider trying normal difficult setting first...?

Well as a sharpshooter when you first start you should wait 1 wave then buy the rifle.

The sad part is that when you do it right, it'll look so easy that they HAVE TO try it, even when they have absolutely no chance of success. Good stuff...

Funny, I was just on a game were two homo's liked to talk a lot of s*** lol and one of them was complain about how I suck because I don't help him out but there was four others he could have stuck with. But at the end of the game i was over 200 kills and second was some other guy with 160 something kills, hate theses guys.

If your gonna complain go to an easier server..

Kills don't mean much. Just remember that. A total newbie picking off nothing but clots and crawlers can have a hundred kills while the 'Zerker veteran who's sticking to the bigger baddies like Skrakes might only have thirty or fourty!

However...if it comes down to someone having 200+ kills while everyone else has 30 or so...your team might be kinda lopsided, skill-wise!

Rifle is balls.

The 9mm can kill anything short of a Scrake or FP with ease. And the rifle is worthless on those two - that's what the Crossbow is for.

It's really just a waste of cash. I only use it now and then because watching the action cycle in slow-mo is glorious. It's like, the definition of the term "gun porn."

but seriously if your new don't ask for money just stick with the team.

Some people actually have valid reasons for asking for cash. Like if they join from Wave 5 or higher, they need cash for body armor. I don't care how close your mates are, you will get hit from time to time and body armor drastically increases your chances of surviving those hits.

Not to mention that Supports and Firebugs cannot buy their main weapons without a little help from friends if they've just joined. Unlike medics, sharpies, commandos and 'Zerkers, Supports and Firebugs' discounts do not give them enough to buy their gun with the typical 250 pounds you start off with.

For all the new people to Killing Floor

STICK WITH THE TEAM.

Thanks.

The most ironic part of this statement is that the two new weapons actually DISCOURAGE team-play.

The AK gives the Commando the firepower boost to take out Skrakes on his own (At least on normal) or the extra ammo (After using all his bullpup rounds) to keep a constant stream of fire without pausing to reload.

And the Katana benefits more from 'Run n Slice' than from sticking with the team and being a wall like a Chainsaw Zerker almost has to...

Sharpshooters, Berserkers and Support Specs could already do this on their own. On hard or even suicidal. And commando, firebugs and medics could do it before the patch as well, but they had to fall back on a backup weapon (such as handcannons or chainsaw). Now commando can do it without using the signature weapon of berserkers or sharpshooters. I see nothing wrong with that...?

But it is a more fun playstyle :)

IMO - The katana IS a bit overpowered for the price and weight... Then again, everyone can get it (even firebugs - which probably is a good thing) - so i guess it doesnt really matter (but it is getting a bit boring that everyone and their mother use katana - not just berserkers).

They don't really discourage teamplay. The AK discourages teamplay no more than the hunting shotgun does - it in fact can encourage team play since a Commando with an AK can actually add in a valuable boost to the volley of his team mates instead of ....plinking away.

Katana can work really well even with a team. I played a game of Hard earlier today on KF-NorthSea. As it was a big map I choose the Katana (keeping the Chainsaw in reserve for FPs and walls of foes) and lead the group around (I knew the map the best and moved the quickest). It worked really well for team play.

tl;dr, the weapons are fine. Find better people to play with and enjoy team play.

yes it's not the weapons but the users. the Katana can be just as effective as the chainsaw against scrakes and FP. however people running around by themselves with the Katana is a recipe for disaster.
