Leveling up for games yields better badges and thus, more bragging rights.
The trading cards as a means of 'community worth' is absolute bollocks.

Somebody can have 1 year in steam, not have any workshop items and only own a few games yet be considered 'high worth' to the community because of the amount of cards they bought. Its ridiculous.

If you think by bragging rights I didn't mean "You could tell your friends that you got Level 5 in KF" and instead meant "Everybody on Steam will see you as a god because you got a bunch of trading cards" then you're a little silly.

if I undestand correctly... only 4 card are ulockable playing the game. Another 5 for buying the game (don.t know if only count the summer sales). I got 4 cards, 3 of the Bloat :S
Nope. You get half the total number of cards in a set, as card drops by purchasing the game. With Killing Floor, there are 10 cards, so you get 5 card drops.
When you play Killing Floor, it uses those card drops, and you are randomly given a card until you have used all 5 drops, from then on you have to trade or buy the remaining cards.

With what you wrote, it sounds like you get actual cards when you simply purchase the game, which is not true. You just get the drops which you use up by playing.

The only other way to get cards is booster packs of 3 cards, but you're only eligible for those once you've crafted the first badge. Those who are confused by the way the trading card system works may want to read the intro & FAQ on steam: http://steamcommunity.com/tradingcards/http://steamcommunity.com/tradingcards/

Probably has to do with the fact that it's spelt skull, not scull, and they just wanted to make it even, so it wouldn't be confusing or something.

I don't see what you're saying, exactly.

The character's name is Dj Scully in game. While, yes it is true that the word is Skull and not Scull, that doesn't change the fact that Scully is his in-game name.

This makes me wonder if Valve does all the naming for the emotes, and they saw "Dj Scully" as the name from Tripwire, while this guy was clearly wearing a Skull mask and had nothing to do with X-Files, so they changed the name of the emote to Skully.

The naming of emotes seems kind of random...the 'bum' from Hotline Miami is named 'Burn' for some reason...and any of the Dust emotes are named 'fsad' or 'fmad', instead of just fidget or something.

F is short for Fidget. Sad or Mad is for the emotion that the emoticon is representing.

I understand that's what it's short for, but that doesn't help specify it.

You can actually do searches on TF2outpost for cards, emoticons, TF2 items, etc. If you type in something like fmad or fsad, it can actually pull up two different emotions from two different games. It's a kind of poor foreshortening.

something like 'fidsad' or just 'fidgetsad' would've worked just as well, really. I mean, heck, that one emoticon is called 'MrFoster' XD
