Killing Floor freezing my PC on start up

I've been having this problem a lot lately where when I start up Killing Floor it gets to the Tripwire logo and then just freezes my entire PC. I have to manually shut down to get out of it. Then when I try to play again, it either freezes at start up or when I get in a game I can't move or access any menus, forcing me to CTRL ALT DELETE to get out. Then if I try to play after that I always get another freeze.

The first time I had this a couple days ago I tried deleting my entire KF system folder and let Steam reacquire it. That fixed it the next couple times I played, but it just froze on me again just now. What the heck is causing this?

I've had this issue happen on one of the computers I work on, apparently the owner was using a third party IM called Raptr that made his entire computer freeze up and crash.

Make sure you close out of any other applications before running. I mostly see the ones that don't cause KF any problems would be Xfire and Teamspeak. I've noticed that having a internet browser open will cause KF to freeze up, sometimes my entire computer.

Make sure your computer is up to date, software wise.
