Just bought the game on Steam, but it keeps freezing my computer whenever I try to run it.

- AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core QL-62 2.00GHz
- 4GB RAM
- 64bit Windows 7
- Nvidia 9600M GT

You can ignore the "Video: No video" thing, but is your computer freezing when launching the game or in the middle of playing it? If it's on launch, deleting the System folder is your best bet...if it's in the middle of playing, then it sounds like your Graphics card or Processor are overheating.

During launch I guess, I've gotten in game once, but it froze a few seconds in.

Still not working, freezes at main menu usually. And to be clear it's not just the game, my whole computer freezes. Requiring a hard reboot.

Ouch, I did a clean install of my video drivers. Now I got a BSOD when I was in the settings menu :( video drivers crashed.

I'm just guessing it's incompatible with my video card...

The game now uses, at the same graphics setting, about 50% more gpu power. At least that is what I observed. I suggest first deleting the entire kf sys folder, then get k-lite codec pack, update your Micro$oft Visual C++ (I know it's a pain in the ***, but meh) and last but not least take your game down about 2 notches in graphics quality. I have a gtx 260 which runs it just fine on highest, but, naturally, that uses 50% more processor power and I'm not fully sure why, so I'm running on high, not highest. Game ran just fine for me and my gpu load went from 98% to 40%-50%.

Try that, let me know how it works.

If it's doing a funky crash on startup try getting the k-lite codec pack. Or CCCP if you have that. If it's mid game crashes, update your micro$oft visual C++. KF runs unreal 2.5 I believe, which is heavy on basic Windows resources.

If all of that still makes you crash dumb down your graphics two notches. If you're playing on higher, try going to high. That's what did it for me.

Installed k-lite and set graphics to high through the .ini file. Didn't do a thing, froze at Unreal logo.

Close to requesting a refund through Steam.

No luck...freezing at the Unreal logo. Have to reset my computer each time still.

To be clear, I've yet to successfully play this game.

Hmm, start the game and smash the space bar to skip the logo. Try that. Or google how to disable it.

I don't think that will help, it has frozen on me at the main menu, settings menu, game loading menu, pregame menu, a few seconds into a game, on the tripwire logo, on the unreal logo etc...

If your drivers blue screened on you, this definitely sounds like an incompatibility between your drivers and your OS.

From Nvidia website:

Version:
275.33 WHQL
Release Date:
2011.06.01
Operating System:
Windows 7 64-bit, Windows Vista 64-bit

---

I've never had a problem like this with a game before.

Xienen, the damn game is causing massive ****ups all around because of the update. It has nothing to do with drivers or the lack of power. It has a lot to do with the game taking 30-40% MORE gpu power to run. Is there a way to DISABLE the models so that the circuis zeds are default zeds? That could help a lot of people out.

There isn't a way to disable the models. The models will return to normal when the event is over, but I disagree with your extra GPU theory. It may be taking an extra 5% GPU, but certainly not 30%-40%. They are the same poly count as the old models, running the same animations, using similarly sized textures.

I'm not saying that the drivers themselves aren't supposed to be compatible with your OS. I'm saying that with your particular configuration, it's causing issues. This machine that I am on, for example, blue screens from time to time because the video card driver crashes. If I reinstalled windows, though, it's quite possible that the error would not occur any longer(as it never occurred before I reformatted a few months ago). You wouldn't happen to be running an illegal copy of Windows 7, would you? Because this has been known to cause a number of problems with various drivers.
