I am here to start a vote that the amazing company known as Tripwire Interactive shares the development or starts development on Killing Floor 2 using the Unreal Engine 4!!! We've all see how unreal the Unreal Engine is and the newest addition is nothing but game changing! The smoothness and complex illusions of amazing depth and graphics is seriously UNREAL! Tripwire has been more then an amazing gaming company for us as users, keeping things up to date and supplying us with amazing content and new maps! Killing floor is hands down the funnest zombie FPS coop game out there... I can assure the Tripwire team that if you guys decide to make a game using the UT4 Engine it will be a major hit! Lets all come together and get Tripwires attention! Post if you want to see this happen!

Oh dear Lord....
Haha, he's just enthusiastic. I seriously would like this to happen though. As much as I love KF, it has it's share of problems and I'd love the chance to play an updated game free of glitches and mistakes.

You seem to think that they'd get it first try this time somehow. A new game, especially with a new engine, will always come with it's own set of bugs. Your best bet would have been for them to continue working on the old game.

Exactly. Even if they did get all the bugs fixed in the current KF, switching to a new engine means rebuilding the game from the ground up. Who knows how many new bugs could appear. KF2 could actually be even more buggy at launch than KF1 was

For KF1, TWI seems to be most interested in events and DLC, because apparently that's what sells, and/or it's what's fun for them to do. Neither bugfixing nor balancing are priority number one, clearly.

For KF2, though, a new release that might be $30 or so, they might be a lot more concerned with overall game quality, since it would drive games sales, which would be the big moneymaker. Starting from a blank slate, they might also be more attuned to seeing the little problems as they crop up, instead of overlooking or ignoring them.

KF1 started out as a mod and then became a full blown game. Obviously we know that Tripwire started from the ground and is successfully moving up. Whenever you have a game that is inexpensive and selling over a million copies, there has to be some changes so this game can keep drawing new players and keeping the initial gameplay less vanilla.

KF2, IMO, would have to be on a better engine (U4). If they redo KF1, then they would have to also put that on the U4 engine. I like the current "heavily modded" engine KF has been using, but if you are going to create another game then you can't make it exactly like the last.

Like I stated in an older post on this forum, I would expect a KF2 by no later than Summer of 2014!

As much as i would love to see KF 2 with the Unreal 4 tech engine, i would still prefer KF1. I would rather like to see more content added such as guns, new game modes and maps etc. KF2 would most definitely split the community. It would be better for them to fix the current problems and improve on this already great game. Taking into consideration the limitations of the UT2004 engine.

I'd be happy if KF2 would be actually made in the first place. KF1 is beyond saving with all that's going on right now. And switching for U3 tech would probably be more rational choice. It would still be a step forward.

Yeah, if they kept with KF, and focused on improving it, that'd be great. But if you look at the history of the updates, it seems like piling on extra content is what they're more interested in doing, rather than polishing and fixing what currently exists. They seem to add more content with its own problems at the same rate as they fix problems, so KF gets bigger, but not better.
On the other hand, with a new game, quality would drive the sales, so they'd probably be more mindful of the minor details and overall quality, and hopefully we'd get a bigger and better KF.

KF is always great to me, no matter what update comes out and does what to improve or bug up the game. There are plenty of games with bugs in them that were created before the ability to update, and we've enjoyed them as they were not bugged. Not saying there shouldn't be a critical side to improving some of these bugs, but this is something that has been a problem in gaming ever since the first video game was ever made.

What I would do (business wise) is release KF2 on U4 engine first. Give Tripwire some time to get used to the new engine, release some DLC (both pay and free) and stay close to the modding community as well as the forums here. After the huge release of KF2, presuming the game sells very well (at least a million copies within 6 months) I would keep a side of Tripwire that works on KF2 and then another team to start working on a revamp of KF1 on the U4 engine, using the new experience with the engine and learning some from KF2. Within 12-18 months of KF2's release, I would release the revamped KF1 which will complete the circle.

If I wanted to sell out completely (lol) for the KF1 revamp I would try to incorporate it into consoles. Yes I know it wouldn't be as good, and KF was made for PC, but we are potentially talking about millions of customers who would purchase this. This would give Tripwire the profits to be able to invest in other projects more fluidly which I know Tripwire doesn't want to build all it's fame around Killing Floor, but what they have created is gaming genius and not all games really hit that mark like Killing Floor has. 6-12 months after the release of KF1 revamp (assuming on consoles) I would release KF2 on consoles and then that would complete that circle, until 2020 when KF3 is released!

Keep up the good work TWI, and I can't wait for that big surprise this year!

I would love for a KF2 but it really can't take away from KF as we know it now, or we would still play KF 'cause it would be more fun. Also some of the exploits and stuff should be fixed I agree, but I do love alot of them, haha save me in pub games with noobs that can't cover me

Some aspects of KF1 will have to return to keep KF2 genuine. Whenever you make a sequel to a game you really want to branch off into new elements for gameplay. KF2, as we know it, will shine in it's own way, which is good too, so we can go back to KF1 after a while.

To change the game engine is much more than enhance graphics you dumbass, it is to get rid of the hardcoded 2Gb memory limit present in UE2 and use a suitable engine for modern PCs (more compatibility).

Bit harsh there trying to prove a point, eh?

lolinorite?

That made me lol so hard, i dont know why!

KF2, make it that my ****ty business laptop cant handle it, even on low settings.

I would suggest making some "computer head" friends. I spent about $1,200.00 dollars on building my own PC that had a retail value of over $2,000.00! Can't wait to build my next one!
