Killing Floor 2 officially announced!

One of my fav films and frequently cited scenes for how audio should be done. Watch the BTS if you can, lots of interesting facts. Gunfire was captured on set from the blanks as they were fired opposed to mixing in post. License plates were path markers and something about this scene being cited by military as an example of proper extrication tactics in an urban environment.

Hello Tripwire. I seem to have typed a giant wall of text, but I hope you guys read it anyway, as I'm a pretty major Tripwire fan. Just thought I'd log in to type out some thoughts I've had about KF. I've been playing KF since its retail release in 2009, and the reason I fell in love with it was the genuinely creepy vibe I saw in a trailer and the definitely messed up creatures. I'm a massive fan, but I do agree with some other players when it comes to out-of-theme things we saw in last couple years.

Things like the commando chicken and TF2 pyro are indeed fun... but they diminish the "feel" of the KF universe. One of the things I remember loving the most about KF in 2009 was the perfect mix of creepy, gritty, gunplay and b-movie. Basically, what I mean is, if I'm in one of the attics on Farm with my lever action rifle and someone says something goofy about "creepy crawlies", that's awesome, but if I look to my left and I see a ton of steampunk characters with weird electric space guns, I've lost that gritty feeling. One or two weird outliers like a chicken commando or a flare revolver would be cool, but an entire pack of steampunk weapons steers Killing Floor down the Team Fortess 2 "hat simulator" road. For me, at least.

I did buy all the DLC weapons out of curiosity/support, but in hindsight, they took away most of the grittiness and the special creepy vibe.

One last thought: the first Twisted Xmas was 1000% perfect. It cranked up the silliness to a new high, and was temporary. Maybe, instead of steampunk in KF2, we have a steampunk event? Like, all the characters dress up in steampunk outfits for Halloween. I dunno, just a thought.

Huge thanks if you guys actually read all that, I think it pretty much sums up why I sort've fell out of love with KF in the last couple years and why I'm rather excited for KF2. Especially MEAT.

Yes! If there will be weird skins and weapons they should limited to the event! Like in TF2 all halloween items are limited to the halloween event and full moon!

Early Access isn't out there just as a way for devs to get money to fund their game. It's out there as a way to have a feedback loop with your fans before you set the full game out there for everyone.

With your prior releases and the way you are handling things, it's easy to trust you guys on that, but with your way of thinking you seem to be a minority.

what is you're sales model going to be?!?

what server hosting model are you going to run?!? (standard player server host?)

do you have plans to give early accsess to a mod team like you did with RO2RS?!? (do we see a comback of defence alliance 3? xD)

do you have any plans for diffrent game modes?!? like story missions?!? or maybe even specimen roaming survival game mode that is not wave based?!? boss game modes?!? or maybe even tower defence gamemode played in first person?!?

and I would like to request Dev blog :p so we can see how the game takes shape and you guys talking **** about ideas. (something like warhorse studio does https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWQn10s_QJM ) that would be amazing

Read the postings. Early Access will be there.

I hope there won't be Tower Defense. Don't get me wrong - I am really a big fan of TDs, but that's not Killing Floor.

I don't want a PD crossover but I DO WANT robbers/criminals characters. I want to see cops from around the world too. Basically - everyday people, not chickens, robots, etc.

no everyday people, because the characters in this game are specialists soldiers can handle any weapon more efficiently than anyone else (perks). and adding "everyday people" like a coach, an executive, a scammer, an assistant television, would not have any sense that "people" can improve their skills with weapons

Of the four characters shown so far, two are Mr. Foster, and he's no specialist soldier.

Military and police, contrary to popular belief, do not mystically have knowledge and skills imparted upon them; they are merely taught and given the opportunities for experience. Such teachers and experience can exist elsewhere. Anyone can learn, and weapons themselves are not very complicated.

Discipline and organization skills from a military background would take longer to learn and be very useful to KF's characters, but if you take a look at some public servers, you'll see that they don't necessarily have that.
